PLEASE VOTE ON THE BOOK TO DISCUSS.

NEW POLL EVERY MONTH.

A suggestion was made by @Primeperiwinkle to start a book discussion and review group about pre-selected books chosen by the forum.

This goes beyond just "Have you read this book?" or "I recommend this!" but to actually discuss a book chapter by chapter.

We actually did some of this many years ago.

I think we should give it a whirl.

So with that said, I'm asking for nominations for our FIRST book to officially review and discuss.

Once we decide, the forum will have a few weeks to purchase and read the book. We can then open the discussion. Looking at January 2019 for the first one.

So if you have a nomination, post away -- nominations not limited to business/entrepreneurship, but anything that can help our journey.

I'll select 5 nominees and then put it to a vote.

To nominate, please post:

1) Title
2) Author
3) LINK to the BOOK (Amazon or other),
4) COVER.

For example...

This book I've read about half way, but very interesting.
The focus of the book is mindset, subconscious, and limiting beliefs.

One major thesis is that we humans need goals to strive for, and we achieve them trough trial and error using a feedback loop.

Originally published in 1960 by a plastic surgeon, he describes how some patients mental picture held them back, not their physical appearance.

The influence of self image, subconscious beliefs, visualizations, and action with trial and error are main topics of the book.

MJ talks about the 3Bs, beliefs, biases and bullshit.... this entire book is about re-shaping your 3Bs

Zero to One is a great book. I think an analysis of how to apply its principles in a more boot strap manner would be good outcome of a forum reading.

This book I found to be very enjoyable to read, really interesting and stimulating, but difficult to act on due to the Silicon Valley start up culture influence. It gives attention to examples like Facebook and Google. It does have some good business environment insights some of the same stuff MJ touches on.

OK I picked 4 and made a poll.

Please vote.

The other books NOT in the poll (as well as the ones that don't win) will be considered for the next month.

Would love to discuss them all.

When to do you plan to close the poll?
Maybe a week before Jan. 1st so people can purchase their books (if they want a hard copy)?

Going to buy atomic habits ASAP. The Power of Habit is a book that was published 4 years ago and has changed my life.

I would love a comparative discussion on the two.
So far it’s great! Very actionable and scientific with plenty of examples.

I haven’t read power of habit but James Clear is a fan and based his research off the book.

Bump, looks like Atomic Habits (Clear) is winning. Maybe I can get him on here for an AMA.

FYI @MJ DeMarco, not sure if intentional, but the book poll is showing up at the top of every thread on the forum (and twice on this thread).
