Yep, some went up, some went down. Overall my traffic dipped just a couple of percentage points. The days of gaming Google are over, they are no longer only looking at the things that you can control in determining your rank. My advice is quit creating pages and information for Google, and create for your users.

Google's goal is not to give you free traffic, it is to get you to advertise.

This follows one of MJ's criteria of control. If you pay for advertising you know what your traffic will be and how much you will get.

Try typing in "make money online" and tell me that the .co.uk result that comes up in first position is information that is useful for users. Bullshit.

Edit: Here's a pic of that search result - it's a "Hello World" post

Edit 2: This comes from Google UK search results, not US

Kind of makes Search Optimization firms seem like a scam.

I wouldn't necessarily agree with this, because SEO can really produce some good results. The problem lies with google constantly changing the rules.

Have you ever tried playing a game with a 6 year old? They're always changing the rules mid-game to make sure they win and you lose. Google is a big 6 year old in that way, haha.

But once you figure out their newest set of rules, you can build links accordingly to win at the SEO game. At least until they change the rules again...

Not really sure how this is so difficult to understand.

If you could do proper SEO and have it work and keep on working then Google would make no money from advertising.

It is in their best interest to keep screwing with the SEO so you are forced to pay for clicks.

The problem lies with google constantly changing the rules.

The only rule Google has, is if you want to be on a page, pay for it. If you get there for free it was your luck and their benevolence.
