Hello, how's everyone doing?
It has been quite sometime since my last time on the forum. Actually i've been lurking around, but not a true contributor, unfortunally.
Somethings happened in the last few years that led to the point where i'm standing now. Lost, with lack of motivation, probably looking for answers that i should find by myself.
So, since I'm not a good writer, i'll try to keep it simple.
I quit my part-time job that i've been working for 3 years and couldnt manage to finish my degree yet (just still trying to do it cause of parents).
Anyway, 1,5 years ago my dad started a conversation about how he always wanted to open a trucking company. He was a truck driver his entire life and actually managed a team of 40 truck drivers on his previous company. So I challenged him to open it with me, I had no experience whatsoever in the industry but i tought it was a good oportunity to explore a niche and try to come up with something that could really differentiate us in that niche (transportation niche).
We gathered some money from my part-time, some money from his job and I got a small loan so we could buy our first truck. With the knowledge of my dad, we got our first costumers, got a driver and started to operate.
One and a half years passed and I see no improving at all, the competition is fierce and the margins are cruel. I got some experience, got better at talking with people, getting customers, running the finances but couldn't do anything that really impressive that outstand us from the competition and respect all the CENTS commandements.
Lastly, I think one of our biggest mistake was not waiting to get more money first, as I spend so much time thinking of excuses to buy some time to pay our suppliers, since our customers in general pay us at 30/60 days and we don't have the cash to handle until we get paid.
