I've got a design in mind for a new kitchen utensil. It's a slight modification on an existing utensil and I intend to market it to the catering industry.

I was wondering whether should I go to manufacture it? I asked a friend and he said Wuyi in Zhejiang Province is the place to go.

I was wondering whether I should get a product design done on fiverr before contacting a manufacturer. I have two design ideas for this utensil. Also, I'm wondering if I need to get it patented. There are products serving the same purpose as mine but my idea has a design modification.

Make some prototypes (carve, 3d print, one off machine, whatever)
..... get pictures and video.....setup a site..... GET SOME online SALES
.....AT THE SAME TIME ...... go to caterers and GET SOME SALES
----------------------Do not go below this line until the above is completed ---------
With sales
......make some batch runs
......if you have the next great bread slicer, file for a provisional patent (it gives you a year to figure out if you want to pursue a full patent), put 'patent pending' on all copy and info
......GET SOME more SALES
