Heard this one from an audiobook last year and I have to admit, it stuck to my brain like glue (I wish it was like a post-it that I could easily pluck out) which may be the reason why I decided to not quit the slowlane ASAP.

So here's my story...I work in a good(i doesn't mean I love it here, though it has its perks) Consultancy Firm - IT Division for almost 8yrs now. I may say that I'm a little lucky after my 3rd year and here's why:

1) got 2 Promotions
2) overseas work (with good pay) for 2yrs, been offered another year but I had to decline to give way to my teammate (RANTING NOW, see this is one thing I can't understand, why can't they believe that I sacrificed one more year of opportunity and gave it to someone else???)
3) people (believe it or not even my Senior Manager) are great to work with and is concern with my goals.
4) always given an opportunity to shine

Yep, some may say why leave when you have these good things handed to you?

My say -
It's a SLOWLANE TRAP!

Now, just recently I decided to quit soon and told my boss, though, I told them I'd quit in 4-6 months (decision - FINAL). Honestly, I'd like to quit much earlier but something is telling me not to do it yet 'coz of the ff:

1. prepare those under me to take my position (I don't like leaving ppl in the dark - RANTING AGAIN, whenever
I go to the background so other ppl would shine, I'm being questioned why I'd do it.)
2. LEAVE at the top (4-6 months)

The 1st reason, wholeheartedly I'm ok with it but the 2nd one well, it gives me a dilemma. If I try to be at the top, this means more hard work, time consuming, energy wasted, work work work (SLOWLANE), instead of devoting my time and energy in developing a plan, idea or a business in parallel (FASTLANE).

Maybe its just my slowlane-brain-neuron-connection that's having trouble adjusting.

What's your say?
Have you experienced the same thing?
What did you do?

What are you going to do after you quit? Have you got a business on the side you're working on?

@Blue Lion, thanks for the reply, so far been following the book, all I have right now is a small fund which I became the lender and it earns little interest.

Aside from that, I got lots of ideas coming in my head right now 'coz of this forum! :D

I would never quit my job if i had nothing prepared to bring me money. The fastlane charm is great but at the end it's all about paying the bills, isn't it? Plus i would also spend some time to validate my idea first. As once you quit there is no going back and you are left out there with nothing

Agree on this one. I guess the best approach here is creating a plan wouldn't you say? And it depends on who?

Some may find quitting the job is the answer - "burning the bridges" while other are like candles burning slowly.

Come to think of it, I was having a deep thought whether my job is hindering me and delaying me. Well, got to think of it more.
