Hi everyone

My name is Ben. I'm from Europe (British passport, born in Germany, grew up in Spain) and live in Japan now in a city called Sendai.

I have a stable and boring job where I am surrounded by mediocrity. The good thing about it is that it gives me a lot of time and freedom to work on other things ;)

I also help run a slowlane business (a language school) that is a lot more fun. I'm trying to figure out if I can make it a bit more fastlane through automation or franchising.

And of course I would like to find a more pure fastlane business to exploit. I enjoy learning, teaching, writing and public speaking so those are my strengths I guess.

I have read TMF three times, and each time it spoke to me more. I'm also shooting for financial independence the old-fashioned way, with a large saving rate and traditional investments. I think we're about five years out at this point.

Anyway, here to learn rather than teach at this point. Figure on reading through the forums before saying much, but just wanted to say hi.

cheers

Hi Ben! Sounds like an amazing adventure, where in Spain did you grow up?

Near Bilbao in the Basque Country (northern Spain).

My life definitely sounds more exciting than it is ;)

Although having said that I just got back from doing a personal finance seminar in Tokyo -my first independently-organized one and the first one we charged for (40 people at $20 each). Had so much fun.

Not Fastlane but in that elusive enjoyable/profitable/helps people zone.
