Do you want to sell your skills as a Web Designer? If not, and you're just doing it to build your own website (to start your new venture you mentioned in your other thread) then hands down I would jack it in and use Wordpress to build just enough web presence to test your business idea.
If you want to code for a living, or want to do something off-piste, then crack on. In terms of building a website from scratch for yourself using code, but for the purposes of having an online store-front, it's an interesting hobby, but action-faking in terms of a step towards money making for a business. It's like wasting hours and dropping big money on a logo as a first step. Just don't.
