I see some people around here making posts specifically for the purpose of fishing for speed. I'll admit, I did that too. But now that I have my 11 bars (which essentially means I have a 9-inch Internet peen) I couldn't care less about where my speed was at.

I do wish, however, that I had always thought that way. Oh well, ego is a powerful thing.

Either way, while I was chasing the speed I actually learned a lot. I started my first business, wrote my first sales letter, talked to my first leads, had my first two business failures (important!), and learned a lot about myself. I'm still learning as I am currently going through a little bit of a mental and emotional recession right now and more will follow.

Anyway, my point:

Read as much as you can! Don't worry about post count or speed!

The most fun thing on the forum for me, before I engaged in conversation and starting writing up a blog, was reading success stories and large advice threads (such as biophase's Ask Me About e-Commerce).

But this forum, of course, isn't really about fun (but it should be and if it isn't you should just leave). It's about learning... for everyone. Even our millionaires learn from the forum.

If you're still PARKED or at low speed and you've been here for months, years even, do NOT feel bad. It simply means you're reading more than you're posting and that's great! (Although we do expect you to elaborate on what you've learned later on and how it brought you success, haha)

The Fastlane is a process. A really long process. Like, a lifelong process if you're serious about it. (Hint: those who aren't serious about it never get anywhere). The Fastlane takes many different forms: you could run a lead generation business, run e-commerce stores, own real estate, sell urinal cakes, own stock, whatever. It doesn't matter which form you end up using but the truth is it's a long process.

You being at PARKED simply means that you're at the beginning or have yet to share what people can learn from. And that's okay. Go at your own pace: we won't mind.

So true, and here is some data to prove it.

When someone "unsubscribes" from Fastlane emails, most of them are "one and done" users. In other words, they came here, made ONE INTRO POST, and then disappeared.

So, they join Fastlane all excited and exclaim "I'm ready to start!" (THE EVENT - THE ACTION FAKE) and then disappear, never showing their face again. Ultimately, they realize that THE PROCESS is too much to bear and that making ONE post on a forum changed absolutely nothing. (Making a post satisfies their need that they are doing something, the event, staying and learning, contributing, and actually doing something is the process.)

The event/process dynamics never seem to fail .. 90% are action fakers, 10% are action takers.

Is this one of those posts to gain speed? lol, jk.

I know I haven't been here super long but I plan to stick around. I've had times where I do get on much, busy with everything else, but the information here is worth millions and millions. In the year or so of being on here, I have learned so much, I'm amazed. Definitely worth the $25 for the book and free 99 of the forum. The payoff will be huge when it comes, in good time.

Very nice post.

I feel like I'm learning more and more every day that it's about being in it for the long haul. It's like with writing . .. the hardest part is the "desert of desertion," that x-hundredth day in a row where maybe when you first settle in at the desk the idea of working doesn't sound so hot . . . and there's no external feedback saying "rah rah, you rock keep going!" or "you suck you are the worst!" But instead, there's just . . . silence.

You know, the two books that have helped me most with staying in the game over the long haul?

This is a nice post, makes me feel better about not being where I thought I'd be upon stumbling across this amazing place in late November! Life really happens, and is happening. Before this forum gave me a reality check I was depressed living in the past and anxiously hyper focusing on the future
