Been doing IF for years now. Eating has been erratic especially during the pandemic.

My gym opened up finally and I went to workout yesterday. When I got on the scale my weight was the exact same

I believe that fasting for once in a week rejuvenates the body and increases its core strength. This fasting includes drinking boiled water up till in the evening and for the rest of days eating only till 7 in the evening. We have been doing this since long and it has really helped in gaining the extra strength and fitness.

I think skipping breakfast works pretty good, doing the hardest part of your day first thing in the morning is optimal imo.

I've dropped about 40 pounds lately from skipping some meals, def worth a try.

Also if you are travelling around whether it be buisness or free time activites, it's really convenient to just skip eating.

I’ve been fasting for a year now. I do fasting 16 hours every day (it's really easy if you consider that you will be asleep half the time). I feel much more energy in my body, my weight is stable for a long time and I feel just great.

Combo of IF and watching macros helped me lose 100lbs.

For the first few months just doing 16:8, I effortlessly lost 35lbs, it was great.
Switched to omad and it sort of worked, lost about another 30lbs but hovered there for a year or so.

During corona, said "fug it" and started prioritizing protein instead of fat and purchased a standing desk. Also got into supps like berberine and ALA.
I can see my abs for the first time in my life now, good feeling.
Switched back to 18:6 so I can eat two protein meals on workout days for better protein synthesis.
We'll see how this goes.

We have become consumed with food.

We are addicted not for nourishment, but for taste...

and usually the sweeter the better.

Some of us really do think we are 'starving' if we go without food for 8 hours.

We feed on bio-engineered products rather than the fruit of the earth.

We would rather wait in line at the Golden Arches than to arch our back to pick home grown vegetables.

We would rather spend $100 a month on snacks and sodas than a gym membership.

And then we would rather take a pill between gulps of soda prescribed to us for weight loss than feel the pain (and joy) of stretching and breathing and lifting.

We would rather take an antidote than stop the obsession and craving.

We have all been fed by branding rather than whats on the back of the label.

I think what I just ate turned me unusually negative...
This is so true...

Personally, I've noticed that when I was the least happy, that's when I would eat the most food

Constant eating in my opinion is a sign to reevaluate yourself to find out how to become happy so that you're satisfied with life instead of the little dopamine hit from junk food.

When junk food becomes the only thing that creates happiness in our lives, it ruins everything.

Just curious if anyone else has been IF for any period of time.

If so, what days and how do you fast…
Been IF for years, really works for me.

Very loose with it, though—basically just never eat breakfast and stretch the fast out with oat milk coffee when I start to get hungry, then break fast for real with a green smoothie.

Following that I’ll eat either one or two meals depending on time, activity level.

I do it every Monday from 16hours. minimum. I sometimes pushed up to 24 and 48 hours to try. It's really interesting to push your comfort zone and learn to control yourself. However, pay attention to weight loss. I do a lot of sport and I have no weight to lose, and I must have lost between 1 and 2kg in 48 hours. For me, to do a little physical and mental cleansing, the best remains 16 to 24 hours. Then why not push it to 48 hours from time to time but be careful.

This happens for me as well when I fast longer than 24 hours, but I think it's mostly water being flushed from the system due to glycogen depletion and a different electrolytes status.
Yes, I think so too. The young intermittent deserves to be better known given all his benefits

Day 3 here of 16 hours between meals fasting. Will go for 24 hours in June again. Love what fasting does for my body.
Nice, good luck friend !

In case someone missed it, there's a thread where you can do longer fasts with fellow Fastlaners:

In the past we already did two 3-day fasts there.

I'm currently doing a 40-hour fast in case anyone wants to join.

Interesting thread! Something to add is that there's some research suggesting that IF improves overall hormone levels and increases growth hormone and testosterone specifically. Have been doing it for a few years now on and off.
