I'm Going To China December 26, 2012

I'm going to China for 2 weeks the day after Christmas.

Random trip that- Paid and confirmed...

I want to make the MOST of this trip.

Please post anything that comes to mind that you would do or look in to if you had this opportunity.


I want to try to get to the Yiwu Fair. But other than that I really don't know.

We are staying at the Grand Hyatt in Guangzhou to give you an idea of the area we will be in.

I've only been to Hong Kong so I can't be of much help. Saying that..HK is a GREAT city, if you can work it into your trip, do it.

Well..I did fly into the Beijing airport on layover once and got lost and somehow exited through security and ended up outside..but that doesn't really count.

Was there last year for a month (went from Shanghai to Yunnan).
Had a lot of fun.

Be prepared for the...spitting, coughing, and crazy driving.

I came back last week from Beijing, Shenyang and Dalian.

The coughing/spitting is disgusting, they do it inside (spit on the floors) and just about everywhere.
They are really bad drivers, no driving courses or tests or anything.

Try to experience the local food, even though it's often not that good.

Go to a "silk market" to buy fake stuff for ridiculous prices (don't buy electronics they are really cheap but the clothes/pens, etc are ok)

I am tagging along with my girl friend who is going for business. I obviously want to make it a business trip for myself--- I will be there for NYE also- and would like to see what a Chinese New Year celebration is like...

I have some products that I want to try to find while over there.

I have been trying to look up the addresses from the different vendors that I am seeing on AliExpress--- anyone know how to do that or know what area these markets are in? All I can find is what looks like the city and state??
