Hi everyone!
Finally got around to writing this post.
It’s been a few years since my first intro, and I wish I had some noteworthy accomplishments to brag about since then.
Nope. None that I can think of.
Well okay, there are a few things I’m half-proud about:
Right now I’m living at an apartment owned by my parents, and life is pretty cushy right now (read: mediocre).
My copywriting gigs earned me enough to pay my father one year’s worth of bills in advance, and to put some food on the table for the next 3-4 months.
The truth is, being comfortable has become my curse.
My mental game is out of whack.
Laziness, lack of ambition, a perpetual state of distractedness… my life has basically become a one big action-faking orgy.
Constant feelings of self-doubt are seeping through my brain every day, and I sometimes I feel I’m not cut out for this copywriting/entrepreneurship thing.
Went down the self-improvement rabbit hole way too many times… and the thought of reading yet another self-help book makes me sick to my stomach.
That elusive ‘why’ you people talk about never came due to being comfortable. And these past few weeks I have this massive, uncontrollable urge to change something.
Yet I don’t know what direction to take and it’s driving me insane.
A few weeks ago I started taking action by taking the focus away from myself, and on helping other people – one person at a time.
My first action was to mass email some startups I found on Angellist and offer them my help for free.
My proposition to them?
I write a piece of direct-response copy for them for free, under the condition I can use it as a case study in the future. This way I am forced to produce results so we can share our profitable story together.
One of the startup founders got back to me and we’re discussing a small project right now.
Not an ideal start, but at least I am forgetting about myself for a while. It feels like I'm doing something.
And that’s my story in a nutshell.
What I need right now is some outside help with screwing on my head straight.
I want to make a lasting change for once, and I'm sick and tired of falling back to my old self-destructive habits.
So my question to you guys is:
What would you do if you were in my place? Where would you start?
P.S.Since on this forum we’re all about leading with the giving hand and giving value first… I recently bought Jordan Peterson’s Self Authoring Suite. It was a 2-for-1 deal, so I have a free voucher for the program to gift. Now I know some of you guys are fans of his, so… I am giving away the voucher to the person who PM’s me for it first.
EDIT: The voucher was given away to @finnyfun . Hope the program serves you well!

Well okay, there are a few things I’m half-proud about:
- Powered through my final exams and got my Surveying Engineering degree. It's a field I hardly have any interest in (and that’s an understatement!). But I buckled down and finished the damn thing. Got my little paper and that chapter in my life is closed. My only thoughts now are where I would be if I had those three years of my life back.
- After graduating, I embarked on a copywriting freelance journey inspired by @Lex DeVille . I bought a couple of his courses and started applying the techniques right away. They shaved off a few months of mindless wandering from my learning curve and helped me get a foothold in the freelance world. (Thank you Lex!)
- Went through hell and back to mend fences with my girlfriend, which I badly hurt through some of my past actions. Won’t go deep into that -- it’s just that I’m happy I’ve retained a person like her in my life. It was totally worth the emotional toll I took during the past year. And it’s something I had enough stick-to-itiveness to make it happen, so I’m darn proud of it.
