Some of you might find this information helpful. I recently took a free business seminar at a local entrepreneur business entreprise center. They provide free resources and can help you apply for funding from the government. They gave me a free business plan guide and so I thought I would share it as I found it really useful. I never had a business plan with my last business but I see how it can help some people. If you'd like to see how to write a business plan then I've attached the guide below. Enjoy!

Appreciate the effort there, but, do you need one?

Unless, as you say, you are applying for funding from someone who requires it, a business plan is an action fake.

You know how to tell if a business has legs? (Hint: it's not a swat analysis)

You take it to market.

I don't see them being a necessity in a business' success. Some others may disagree so hopefully they benefit from this resource.

I was just posting in case anyone wanted to know how to write one. I am applying for funding and that is why I'm writing one. But I agree with everything you said, I never had a business plan before and didn't need one.

I'm currently running ads to a landing page to validate my idea. So far I have 46 emails and have presold one product by direct message on Facebook. Definitely beats a business plan.

I'm a pitch nerd. I love having something in-hand to reference and regardless of the necessity of a business plan, the required financials of how you will succeed are crucial to landing investors. While this particular plan won't suffice for me, I appreciate the effort in putting it out for someone it will work for.

Chapter 39: Burn The Business Plan, Ignite Execution

"Having the world's best idea will do you no good unless you act on it.
People who want milk shouldn't sit on a stool-
in the middle of the field in hopes that a cow will back up to them."

Business plans are useless until they're married to execution.

It's mentioned that the best business plan in the world
will always be a track record of execution.

All in all, investors never invest in business plans-
they invest in people with track records of execution.
Ultimately, that is your best business plan!

I agree with this. I fill out a lean business canvas, and If i can answer everything in there, I go and try to execute. You said it best, everyone has idea's... few can execute.

My advice, based on personal experience and wasted year doing all kinds of business plans: don't write a business plan...

Unless...

You're looking for a pile of investment or a business partner.

Some 'gurus' insist on writing a business plan, arguing it's going to help you make better sense of the nature of your business, profile your audience, and other nonsense...

My advice is to learn as you go and adapt to changing circumstances. Don't try to control uncontrolable and predict unpredictable.

But that's just my biased opinion.
