They partnered with friends, siblings and mentors, or did the work on their own. Three are from the U.S., two from the U.K. All started at age 15 or younger--and one before he broke double digits.

It's always the simple ideas.
I remember watching 'Montell' a few years ago (Young entrepreneur special), and this young guy started making and selling pancake sauces, within a few years he sold it for millions. :(

Jam? Pancake sauces? Even if I made a million bucks on some similarly irksome venture, I'd wish I'd done it with something more fun. Reminds me of "The Graduate:"

Mr. McGuire: I want to say one word to you. Just one word.
Benjamin: Yes, sir.
Mr. McGuire: Are you listening?
Benjamin: Yes, I am.
Mr. McGuire: Plastics.
Benjamin: Just how do you mean that, sir?

That's just me, I guess. I like "So what do you do?" to start conversations, not end them. "Oh. I'm in jams and sauces."

What about I made millions with Jams and now I run charities around the world when I'm not at my private Island?

I'd lie. "Jam? No, ma'am. I made my millions running guns."

"Oh my," she'd say. "A man with a sense of adventure! Let me get you my number..."

You need to go and watch the movie 9 1/2 Weeks. They had a lot of fun with sauces in that movie! :)

Seriously, though fun is in the person, not the business. The airline biz. was anything but fun before Richard Branson starting having free masseuses on his flights.

Not surprising ... one of the Fastlane vehicles is inventing and distribution.
