How do you take advantage of mass gatherings online?

I was streaming the UFC fight last night and I was participating in a thread on another forum about the fights. At one point there were over 400 people viewing the thread.

This lead me to wonder how I could advertise my products during an event like this. Every Pay-Per-View, hundreds of guys come to that forum (and others like it) to discuss the event. This isn't a situation like the Superbowl where advertisers can pay for commercial time. Straight up spamming my website would get me banned most likely.

So I wonder, how could one go about spreading the word about a product/brand/etc in these kind of situations? Is it even possible?

too costly in general and the actual forum that I was speaking about doesnt allow people to purchase ad space. he just uses google ads

Pretty sure that you guys don't care, but I found the solution to my problem
I mentioned my product on a forum last weekend, as if I was a normal customer.
As a result, I was able to get sales all weekend...off of a freaking forum post
Earning passive income is a good a$$ feeling, and im in the works of having a machine behind my product in terms of promotion
I feel like right now is the calm before the storm....
