Hi there!
I'm a 36yo guy from Germany, married, no kids yet, currently in the slowlane with a regular 9-5 office job.
My Slowlane
I'm an IT guy who is responsible for the software development of small business intelligence applications in a large corporation. While I really enjoy extracting knowledge from statistics and numbers (Is this product profitable? If so in which markets especially? What revenue can I expect in the future?), helping my fellow coworkers and figuring out technical problems, there are also parts of my job which I don't enjoy very much. Working in a large corporation means that you also have to spend a lot of time with bureaucracy, replying to E-Mails, filling out excel sheets and word templates for documentation that doesn't add any real value to anything. Being almost at the bottom end of the food chain there isn't much you can do to change that. I'm wondering if there is a different way...
Checking the mirror before changing lanes
This summer I read the TMF and got really excited. All the principles and commandments told are totally logic and proven to work if applied correctly. And I'm wondering if I have what it takes to go fastlane. As MJ wrote, it's not for everyone. Is the guy in the mirror willing to sacrifice everything and do whatever it takes? Being honest I'm not ready to quit my 9-5 yet and take a leap of faith to persue one of my many business ideas fulltime. I admire people that do this, but right now I'm holding myself back. Luckily my job leaves me enough time to grow a small side business. If it flourishes enough to compensate the gap between a fulltime and a parttime job, I plan on reducing to parttime to have even more time to put into my business. And if I can see that the business will make more money than the job, I will quit the job and go all in. Don't get me wrong, I'm well aware that you can't make millions parttime. But I'd like to test some ideas first and scale it up if it's proven to work.
What I will not do
I will not brag about my goals and how much money I plan to make or what car I'd like to drive. As I learned from MJ, nobody cares. I'll also not ask you to validate some of my business ideas asking if they are fastlane, because I know that it's only the execution that counts.
What I will do instead
I will validate through the markets and then report in a progress thread about it as soon as one of my ideas takes off. I will seek knowledge and the advice of a community with the right mindset. I'd also like to meet other fastlaners in Germany to exchange experiences and hopefully build some friendships on- and offline. I'll also share my experience, even if I fail – so that others can learn from my mistakes. I hope to be experienced enought one day, so I can really give back and add valueable content to this forum. If you have any questions regarding business intelligence in general feel free to PM me. Maybe my humble 10 years of experience in this field might be of use to somebody.
What else?
I'm a car enthusiast, I like fitness and self development as well as nature, vacation and traveling.
Hope you enjoyed reading my small introduction and that everyone of you has a wonderful day and happy holidays!
Stay awesome!
