Hello everyone,
I've been a member of this forum for a long time. Over the years, I've built a few companies, some of which have seen success thanks to the valuable information I've learned from books and discussions here. Now, I'm looking for advice, feedback, and thoughts on my newest venture: Mesh Dating - The Private Dating App.
I've spent years using different dating apps. While fun, I often found myself ego-swiping or not fully engaged with the matches. Something always felt off, like there was a disconnect. One day, as I was scrolling through my phone contacts, I thought:
"Wouldn't it be nice if these people were on dating apps? I already know them, and they know me. If only I could send a like to these people right from my contacts, and if they liked me back, we’d both know. Too bad."
This sounded like a business idea, but I needed to clarify it more:
Here are a few questions I have:
Thank you!

The Problem:
I rarely find people I already know and like on dating apps. There are people in my life that, if I could read their minds and know they liked me, I’d definitely ask them out. These are people I've worked with, dated before, or even those who it would be embarrassing to approach unless I was sure they liked me back. The Solution:
I decided to scratch my own itch and built a dating app that follows these guidelines:- Mutual interest discovery: I can find out if someone I already have feelings for also likes me.
- Contacts-based matching: I can like people I already know, directly from my phone contacts.
- Complete privacy: I can explore potential relationships within my circle, and only mutual matches will know about it.
- Simple and straightforward: The app just works. When I match with someone, our chat moves straight to SMS, not within the app.
- No tracking or interference: The app doesn't track my location or suggest matches. It's 100% user-driven.
- Minimal data collection: All I need to do is verify my phone number. The app doesn’t require my name or share my contact list with the cloud.
What I’m Looking For:
I'd love to get some impartial feedback. I believe that once users sign up and use the app, it will make sense. Although it relies on third-party app stores, the concept is more independent than some of my past ideas. Here are a few questions I have:
- Why would you not download and use the app?
- What do you think needs improvement for the app to grow further?
- How would you market an app like this?
- How would you attract the first group of users to the app?
- What are your thoughts on the overall design and concept of the app?
- Anything else that comes to mind?
Thank you!
