Editing Services for First Ebook

I just finished my first ebook tonight, yay! It's been a few months in the making and had a ton of rewrites. It's short (5000 words) and is going to be given away for free.

I am starting a retail business using FBA, but have a website being constructed that will attract the type of people interested in my products.

The goal os this first ebook is to begin generating an email marketing list....eventually being used to promote other books and products.

Anyways....

I finished the book and want to have someone professionally edit it.

Ive run across websites that offer editing services and also considered upwork or even craigslist to outsource an editor.

My question is, what have you other authors had success with?

I do not know about a edit service, but I know it is a lot of proof readers on upwork.com

One tip: People don`t value what they get for free, so if I was you I would create a spreadsheet for the email opt in, and sell your 500page book instead

You could also offer a reduced edition of the book as the lead gen. If you reveal strategies then those would be the chapters you'd cut out from the free edition and just hint at. This would allow for an easy upsell, and you can always do a usually $10,000, but if you buy now it's only $27.

Thanks for all the input. I hired someone from upwork. She had a reasonable price and over 3000 hours of worked clocked with a near perfect rating.

I also have given some more thought to this and think I'll give the brunt of the work away as "complimentary with sign-up" but will charge a few bucks if you want the exercise programs with the book.
