Eat for your blood type versus ayurvedic diet versus it’s all hog-wash.
I stopped by Aunt Ellen’s health store yesterday one could find pure water
filtration, MSM products, various holistic deodorants and toothpastes. I thought
the owner had sold his place a few years ago since the last time I was there he had
mentioned he would sell if the price was right. The owner named Chris blue
piercing eyes, high cheekbones, soft spoken fellow
handed me a folder that read “Blood Group Food Base”. I thumbed through the
folder, I remember reading a book such as this one a few years back Eat Right 4
Your Blood Type : The Individualized Diet Solution to Staying Healthy - Achieving
Your Ideal Weight by Peter J. D' Adamo and Catherine Whitney. I googled to learn
more and Dr. D' Adamo claiming he spent the past fifteen years
researching the connections among blood type, food, and disease, and his
research is built on thirty years of work done by his father. Eat Right 4 Your blood
Type the author claims to show which foods, spices, teas, and condiments help
someone of your blood type maintain optimal
health and ideal weight; which vitamins and supplements to emphasize or avoid;
which medications function best in your system; whether your stress goes to your
muscles or your nervous system; whether your stress is relieved better through
aerobics or meditation; whether you should walk, swim or play tennis or golf as
your mode of exercise; how knowing your blood
type can help you avoid many common viruses and infections; how knowing your
blood type can help you fight back against life-threatening diseases; and how to
slow down the aging process by avoiding factors specific to your blood type that
cause rapid cell deterioration.
So reading this and having this folder handed to me by the owner of this health
store made me remember a few years back when I read this book and I also read
about Ayurvedic Medicine.
The ancient Indian medical system, also known as Ayurveda, is based on ancient
writings that rely on a “natural” and holistic approach to physical and mental
health. Ayurvedic medicine is one of the world’s oldest medical systems and
remains one of India’s traditional health care systems. Ayurvedic treatment
combines products (mainly derived from plants, but may also
include animal, metal, and mineral), diet, exercise, and lifestyle. There is also an
online test to see what your dosha is; Vata, Pitta or Kapha. I know sound’s like a
foreign language. I do remember when I was reading about this subject a few
years back “Eat For Your Blood Type”
claimed that avocados where not recommended but then I read the other
Ayurvedic book and it would recommend for my so called Dosha that avocados
were highly recommended and many
of the other foods were in a constant opposing force. I noticed that these two
books were in complete opposition.
I personally try and eat foods in moderation and use my own common sense
naturally I am open to various holistic approaches and medicine. I love to see
research studies done and stay updated and this is why I am curious and put this
on the forum just to hear your thoughts and feedback. I love to hike, mediate and
swim so another words If the book says that there is a
another form of exercise that is better suited for me I may have a look but in the
end I use my own gut and intuition.
Thought this might be a fun read about holistic belief systems, oppositions and
just your own take on the subject. All in fun naturally when I traveled this last trip
to Italy and France during Spring time I notice I
eat ice cream a lot. The Blood group food base book has Ice Cream as foods for my
blood type to avoid. I walk and climb so many stairs sightseeing I lose weight
instead of gaining weight but when I am back home-base naturally my
metabolism is much different since it is too hot during
summer months to be outside I have to make it a point to manage my exercise
program and how much I eat.
I have to create new and improved habits. I would love to hear your thoughts and
feelings and thanks for taking the time for reading. Could be all hog-wash in order
to sell a book!
