^ Did he change up the parameters to add cold showers? Anything else added?

I love cold showers and other kinds of cold exposure, but I live in the Philippines and can't get it coming out of the tap even close to cold enough to make it a challenge. Suppose I could stick a bottle of cold water in the freezer when I wake up and pour it over my head when it's cold enough. Not exactly as beneficial as a shower though...

Alright, checking in...
Got the two workouts in - these were two low-intensity, but they qualified, as one was outside and they were both at least 45 minutes.
Diet - as long as I don't eat anything else the rest of the evening I'll get it.
Reading ten pages - got it and then some (13 pages).
Drinking one gallon of water... drank a quart before heading to work, and finished the second one before 9:30. After that I slowed down a bit and got the last quart down just before leaving work.
Last thing is to take a progress pic just before bed. I'm going to make this part of my nighttime routine.

One day down, 74 to go!

My advice is don’t leave anything to “night time”. You’ll end up forgetting at some point and have to restart.

The get the progress pic at the gym (this is what I switched to) - that way you should remember easier and have a full back if you do forget.

My current routine as of yesterday

30 days of a dopamine reset

No entertainment such as movies/tv/music

No porn - no sex

No sugar or carbs

Go to bed at 8pm and wake up at 5am

Eat only during a 4 hour window during the day

Cut out stimulating activities so no riding my motorcycle

Stretch and meditate 3x a day

No hanging out with friends

Its a strange thing to cut out all the stuff you turn to when you need a boost. It makes you confront everything in your life because there's nothing else to do.

Very impressive.

You want to jump in on this challenge also? Wouldn't be too much of a change.

Okay, I am back to day one because I never got the maths right on what a gallon actually is.

"The US gallon is used in the United States and is equal to exactly 231 cubic inches or 3.785411784 liters."

I have been drinking 3 x 1.5 litres which puts me under.
3 x 1.5L = 4.5 liters thoug
Edit: nevermind, someone else already brought it up

Well, back to square one. It was the water that got to me. I got a late start with it, and just didn't catch up. Back on the wagon today (even though it's Father's Day and I know my kids will be giving me some treats, but those will just have to wait until August 30th!).

Unfortunately I was traveling which disruped my routine and I forgot to take a progress pic yesterday on day 12.

Annoying how I have to start over due to something that takes 10 seconds to do but it must be done.

Back to square one. I work overnight on Saturday-Sunday and it's a blessing and a thorn in my side. Blessing - it allows me to slack off a bit during the week. Thorn - I'm up all night in the middle of the weekend and it throws me off my game sometimes.

I slept to almost noon yesterday and had to do the Dad thing. Didn't get my water or get to work out until 8pm.

Back on it plus I started the TeamRWB 1776 challenge. SMH
It's all good until the Burpees on 7/4 Fup Burkees!

im pretty sure me doing a 45min outside workout and then driving across the city to go to the gym for 45min all before 7am because otherwise I wouldn’t have time counts as me doing it. But I get what you’re saying.
I think that counts. I'd count a 60 minute run to Starbucks, 30 minute Latte, 45 minute run home.

You don’t have to measure the end of the day by Midnight. Even Andy said on the podcast that he jumps out of bed at 1am before falling asleep sometimes when he forgets to take his progress pic.

Anyway, I took a few days off but I’m back on the train starting Sunday. I’m still feeling the mental benefits of the 12 days I did last time. I can’t imagine what 75 will feel like.

I didn’t know this. I won’t be changing my approach though because for me the biggest challenge in this is in getting up early (which I’ve managed to do twice so far). If I measured my day “as anytime before I went to sleep” I’d be finishing up a workout at 3am every night.

Thanks though. I think it would help if I could actually listen to more than three of his podcasts but.. umm... meh.

You would think the water would be a waste of time but to me it's the puzzle piece that holds everything together. It keeps your mind on the challenge all day and focused on making small progressive steps throughout to get shit done.
True! I see my 30oz Ozark Steel Tumbler and it triggers a scan of the list of done and to dos.

I went to play pool with an extremely nice man, read some pages while I waited for him to get there, didn’t drink anything but water, had a great time, came home super tired and since I had been on top of my water and workouts all day no problem right?

Woke up this morning still feeling sleepy, must be the moon, and then realized with a shock.. I didn’t finish my pages yesterday.

Today would have been Day 14.

☹️

2. O can only speak for myself, alcohol has proven to be the easiest part of the programme. I only have to deal with it when I socialize as I never drink at home.

If you find yourself out with family/friends and they're pressuring you to drink (as happens to myself regularly) I have a great trick to get around this. The next time your in a restaurant and someone asks you if your drinking here's what say. You may want to grab a pen........."No".

Learn to say no, learn to say no without apology or excuses. This is a big part of the programme. Practicing saying no. No to alcohol, no to junk, no to worthless relationships, no to sloth and no to excuses.

That so reminded me of a video I saw a while ago:

Noooooooooooooo!

I’ve been there. I feel your pain.

A good trick is leave the book on your pillow so you can’t sleep without knowing you need to read it. But ya try get the reading in before dates/social things also.

Honestly dude? My very first thought after “shit” was about you. You’ve been so honest and transparent about your stuff.. I dunno.. a part of me was like.. if he can fail and keep trying so can I.

I really want to cry and curl up in a ball and eat donuts though. Not gonna lie.

Well first of all my post wasn't directed at you, it was a general observation of the patterns I was seeing throughout the thread from many members making excuses about how hard the challenge is and altering the challenge as a result, which is exactly what Andy said not to do.

If making changes like that works for you then great, I don't want you to change anything.

But since you singled yourself out, I'll use your post as an example.

Adding things like the "occasional gummy bear" and dark chocolate completely defeats the purpose of the challenge in my opinion. In fact, it may make it harder to stay on track because your sugar cravings are going to increase. What is stopping you from classifying 10 gummy bears a day as within the limits of the challenge?

It's basically like cheating on the diet aspect of it even though it's within the rules you set for yourself.

This is a really good point but the crazy awesome thing about the challenge is that it’s ALREADY changing my cravings. I sincerely doubt I’ll be even interested in having a gummy bear but saying I can.. that makes the rest of the challenge an adventure instead of a punishment.

I’m the type of person who beats herself up on the daily. Truly. For me, going without any texting is INFINITELY harder than saying no gummy bears.

Hmmm.. I really thought the point of the challenge was to gain self-control. Does that mean I need to gain self-control over every single weak area in my life all at once?

At the end of the day.. I’m doing the challenge for me.

Today I restarted, had a smoothie, a square of dark chocolate and no gummy bears. Furthermore I still haven’t had any candy. I can stay off of candy for the next 74 days. No worries.

Anybody else have thoughts on this?

I basically went with a “if I was to eat a LOT of thing would it become a problem?” litmus test.

Pizza for sure fails that test.

I’ve been sticking with foods and meals I would feel good about eating on a daily basis (knowing they are healthy).

yup this is exactly how Im doing it.

I have a question.
I went to the nutrition store to buy a bottle for water.
I asked the guy at the front cash if 1 gallon a day is healthy. He said that my aim should be 2 litters a day. He said more than that could lead to water poisoning. But he did mention something about drinking more if you are sweating.
Is he right? Is 1 gallon too much?

This may be correct for typical consumption, but it isn't valid for the 75Hard challenge.

If you want to do the challenge, you can't modify it like this. If that isn't important to you, and you want to do a modified challenge of your own design, that's fine of course, but don't claim you're doing 75Hard if you do.
It's really important, but I don't get this.
I am missing the reason why it needs to be a gallon, no matter what size I you are. It means the challenge is much easier for the very big guys.

Want to start this challenge but my biggest concern is the two 45mins workouts. I do workout at the gym for about two hours in the evening which is all the exercise I'm able to get. I do walk a lot not sure if it will count for one of the exercises. I will walk for about 15mins to work and 15mins back then I'll walk for another 20mins to the gym and back. If all the walking can be counted then I'm definitely in.

Scrap the nap rule man. Its not needed.

You are pushing your body super hard - the odd nap is fine.

Even Arnold and co would take naps back in their bodybuilding days - you body wants that time to recover and build muscle.
I'll do just that because today, I found myself napping again after a 2.5 hours run so I'll be easier on myself with that one! Thanks for the reply. Today is going to a successful day 1!!!!

That is shite. Hope you dust yourself off and try again.

How's everyone else doing?

I'm curious to hear about how everyone structures their day in order to complete all the tasks. What does your typical day look like?

Here's mine:

5am - 7am
Wake up
Stretch
Outside cardio (45 mins) sometimes with a weight vest, sometimes without.
Cold Shower
Read

7am - 7pm
Work

8 pm - 10 pm
Jiu Jitsu

11 pm
Eat. Right now I'm eating just one meal a day. Consisting of ~90% red meat / ~10% sauerkraut

This is what's working for me. The key has been waking up early and getting my outdoor workout in immediately. Otherwise I'd struggle to get it done.

You are just eating one time at 11pm?

Can you give more details on why/where that came from.

Hey guys, I'm joining the challenge!

I'm honestly sick with the lack of consistency in my life. It's not that I'm less talented than other people, it's just that I quit things when they become inconvenient. And even though people around me think I'm doing well, I know I'm operating at around 10-20% of my potential. So that's my motivation - to learn how to be consistent, no matter the excuses. And then hopefully, start doing shit I can be actually proud of.

Anyways, it's day 3 for me. I caught a cold day 1 whilst running in the forest (it was windy, rainy and cold - @Fox you're in Gdańsk too, so you know how Tuesday looked like). Feeling quite awful, so I'm going to go easy on my workouts - just walking outside and yoga instead of lifting - till I get better. Good luck to everyone doing the challenge!

PS. I've found an app you may find useful. It's for tracking water. You can set your daily goal and then click a plus every time you drink something (cup sizes are customizable). The app will automatically set a reminder an hour from the last drink. My favorite feature is the little arrow under the progress bar - it shows you in real time where should you be in order to be completed by your bed time (also customizable). Just type "water tracking" in google store, it's the one by Leap Fitness, a green icon.

Welcome aboard.

Youre in Gdansk also? Lets meet if so.

I am curious to see whether you plan to keep some of the habits you have developed during the challenge. For example the reading part or drinking a lot of water?

@Fox 100% Agree, Sanction and Promote this challenge!! It will steer your life's path in an unfathomable & marvelous direction! Though she is a little bit too strict haha.

I smashed through a similar feat this year, it was only for 35 days & I seriously broke down wept for absolute joy upon completion. It changed my life & YES I was allowed wine two times a week!!
I will be releasing a YouTube video shortly about the experience.

Initially the aim was physical transformation; To loose my belly fat gain those wash board abs.
Ashamed; I got obese, lazy & depressed resulting in self-conscious thoughts which thus fed the negative feedback loop. We can all do without that shit in our lives!

The results after 5 quick weeks literally blew my mind!
Not only transforming me physically, it elevated me mentally further than I could have ever imagined.
I woke up..."HELLO WORLD"

One shocking realization was my relationship with Alcohol! The internal script that dictates, "I cannot go out & be social without alcohol!" was shattered.
Admittedly it was initially challenging to tear apart these mental barriers, but waking up fresh at sunrise to go to the calisthenics park after a night partying felt fantastic. It was pure joy to know your friends are still sleeping with hangovers while you are pushing your limits & getting ahead.

For any of you who relate to 'old me', trust me you wont know this until you try this challenge....you will shake off some disgusting "friends" that are in fact dragging you down to their level. They cant stand to see you in this process of change. Seriously F*ck-em bye-bye now!

After blasting though a serious amount self-development books & YouTube videos (including MJ's Unscripted ) I finally arrived at this forum, now fitter & stronger both in mind & body.
I havent watched TV or playing useless computer games since I can remember, instead I am spending my evenings learning to program, eat healthy & keep fit.

I so excited to start round two of the 35 days course on 8 July with the aim to hit the 12% body fat mark. If I do not make it, it will have been a blast and I will just have to contain my excitement for the following five week session.

The MOST IMPORTANT ADVICE i can share is:
There will always be "something" that prevents you from starting until this & that is over.

1) Stop bullshitting to yourself! Pick a start date & begin preparations
2) Have courage to succeed! Didn't reach your ultimate goal!? If you worked had you CANNOT fail, trust me.
3) Commit yourself Fully to the process! FULLY!!! Warning this could result in tears of joy on the last day!

Your body & mind will thank you! So
1) pick a date in the near future,
2) prepare a diet plan (recommend: combo of keto-diet and intermittent fasting every day)
3) prepare your workout schedule (early morning after a two coffees, 45 mins before eating breakfast and when your at least 12 hours fasted is optimal for fat breaking & hormones etc.)
4) Fridge pickers wear bigger knickers - NO SNACKING
5) No more than 4 days working out in a row, do not underestimate the power of rest days
6) Sleep (8 hours minimum, though I could only ever get 7)

Hope this motivates someone & whom ever that may be...God speed fellow human!

What is the "HARD" diet? Rather hypocritical to say you have to "read" books if you only have podcasts on your site lol:rofl:
