I came to this barrier about a year ago, which I couldn't overcome.
For context, I had an idea which felt like a bolt of lightning at the time. I thought I had a great mobile app idea, but on a scale of 1-10 for complexity, I was told it was about a 7 from reputable connections in software or app development. I spent weeks brainstorming and sorting through the details, even learning some front-end design and development. I took it upon myself to learn because I didn't know anyone that was interested enough to be a partner and develop it. I eventually hit a wall and didn't know how to build the back-end and I didn't want to hire a freelancer to make the MVP, just to hire a freelancer later to make updates.
Fast forward to today and I've been thinking through a smaller, simpler, niche, more useful idea, in my opinion. I think I know someone that would be interested in partnering with me and helping me bring this particular idea to life, but then comes the question:
Do you still have enough Control in CENTS if you have an equity partner?
What if I'm wrong and I don't know anyone that would join me on this venture. Do I approach freelancers cold and offer equity? Do I use freelancers at all?
This new idea, I could probably learn by myself but even with an optimized schedule, I don't feel I'd have enough time to meet my timeline expectations.
I greatly appreciate any thoughts or feedback, or even to hear from anyone going through the same thing.
