Examples here 10 People Who Switched Careers After 50 (and Thrived!) include
Tim and Nina Zagat
Takichiro Mori
Grandma Moses
Colonel Sanders

Each of them became wildly successful by doing what no one else did.

Oh yeah, they also did it after 50 and some much older than that.

We cannot be too young, too old, too educated, too uneducated —too anything to succeed.

If they can find their unique way to unscript their lives and contribute to others, then so can I (after 50), and if I can at my age, you can at yours.

It can be done.

The question is: Will we do it?

Thought for today-
Let’s make progress not excuses.

One thing this forum does is focus on action...

—not just action for action's sake but for a purpose, to meet real needs of real people.

My sticking around keeps what's real in the headlights, and what's not, in the rearview mirror.

What matters is not what I think, not what I'd like to do, not even what motivates me — been there done that —

It's doing something, making something, providing something that matters to someone else, that they actually want or need and will pay for.

Also being here I can potentially help people from what I've learned, my mistakes and successes along the way...

working as a realtor
starting a cafe in Beverly Hills
growing an education business
writing my first book

This is my progress thread.

I cut down my focus from 3 ideas to 1.

I rejected 2 of them because I've been down one road before and it leaned too much on my time and the other had an entry problem: anyone could do what I was thinking of.

The 1 I'm focusing on meets all the CENTS criteria.

To work this while teaching full time, I'll be getting up early and working before my work day starts. Don't want to say too much about what it is yet. No massive declarations, just putting my head down and getting to work.

I've already started with mini habits that get me up before the sun:
What's worked for me the best is the simplest.

Let the dogs out. (They're the only other ones in my house willing to get going that early.)

I have several other habits that get me into the work groove for the first few hours of my day before my day starts.

Consistently getting up at 4:30 is working for me and gets me taking action instead of hoping and wishing.

And it's increasing my productivity for the rest of the day -something I didn't expect.

It's becoming the best part of my day.

For getting started novel writing, this book is a gold mine.

MJ and others talk about being specific to get things done. Here's breaking down a project by the numbers. I could do more, but here's what I absolutely can do.

I write about 1,000 words in 30 minutes which means...
5x per week = 5000 words
20,000 words per month
80,000 words in 4 months, more than enough for a novel (with 70,000 as a basis)

Advice to self: Just do it
