Easiest way is take your previous gross hourly rate as an employee and multiply by two.

I have a previous employer reaching out to see if I can do some contract technical writing. I used to write the service bulletins and install guides while i was an engineer. Having some trouble trying to price my hourly contract rate. Anybody done anything similar and what is a reasonable rate for this service?
