Get some Jack Ma diatribes here, if you can!
He's a freaking Fastlane story. You know what's the bloody kicker?
1. He doesn't code. And he's an Internet BILLIONAIRE.
2. He doesn't know how to read financial statements. Seriously. Here's the article on this shocking truth
How Jack Ma Overcame His 7 Biggest Failures
3. He made loads of mistakes that could have been the killing blow for his business like not allowing his people to get promoted beyond manager. In fact he's planning to write a book titled 1001 mistakes of Alibaba. Besides Unscripted, I'll get it once it comes out!
4.He wasn't good in maths. He screwed up in college maths. Pretty unbelievable when he didn't let his weakness get in his way!

I watched some of Jack's videos especially one when he was interviewed during the World Economic Forum. The recent 2017 one blew my head to bits as he, a rejected KFC candidate and a failure in academics, calmly explained tough and controversial economic issues so simply that even children could understand.
His English isn't perfect, but he is the most clear and concise speaker I have ever heard. He's one of the few non-fluff business people I listen to whenever I have time.

I'm surprised the kids at my college don't even know who the man is! They just open their mouth and say 'ah?'. Fastlaners, look him up. Jack Ma is a Fastlane defiance to the max!

Wow, you've put a lot of work into this and I'm sure many people will benefit from it.

I would like to comment on the two links relating to my field of expertise:
  1. Alibaba Hacks: The most efficient way to find suppliers on the biggest sourcing website • /r/startups
  2. Import Dojo | Sample communication with your suppliers. An in-depth guide
The first one is also by ImportDojo, and although he has a lot of experience, and provides some good advice, this article is obsolete in many respects. This was also the case with another "expert's" blog linked in another thread. He accepts on face value much of the Alibaba provided information that I would take with a grain of salt. He also misses out on dealing with very important changes in Alibaba. He also doesn't mention anything about the risks in relying on a 5 year or 8 year Gold Supplier badge as a measure of reliability.

I posted recently in the thread From Lurking to Doing (Private Label) on this very subject. The badge could be 5 or 8 years old but it could have belonged to a failed business and the badge and business name could have been bought by someone very new to the industry. That happens quite often. Such opportunism is often practiced by scammers.

The second one, from ImportDojo's blog, is in keeping with most of what I teach on the subject being dealt with, but misses out on an important piece of advice, namely to use throw-away email addresses when making buying requests on Alibaba. In his recommendations on communication he has a tendency to include words that many Chinese people would not understand. Communication must not use a word that can have more than one meaning or might not be in the basic vocabulary training provided in English lessons. E.G. "Sample needs to be in working mode." could read: Sample must be ready to use. "sample will undergo quality tests" could read: Sample will be quality tested. Few Chinese people would understand "mode" or "undergo."
