I was once a big time cigar afficinado. When I did the math one day and found that I was spending what many would call a mortgage payment every month on cigars, I quit.

As much as I LOVE cigars, I love money more. I am now a nicotine gum aficionado.

I enjoy a good Zonic 2mg cinnamon.

Just out of curiosity more than anything.

I'm an avid cigar smoker. We have a large stand-up cabinet humidor in my business.

I smoke maybe 2-3 times a week. Always with good fellowship and friends. For me, it represents a true 2 hour span of total relaxation and enjoyment. It clears my mind, relaxes my body, and leaves me feeling energized after.

So - any other Fastlaners have a strong penchant for cigars?

Cigar smoking is a fun pastime for me as well. The great thing is the city I live in is nicknamed Cigar City.

I usually smoke local hand rolled cigars, not a fan of paying $15 for a brand name.

I took a recent trip to Scotland and brought back a bottle of 15 year old scotch from Dalmore called their Cigar Malt. It's made specifically to be paired with cigas. I can't wait to pair the two.

What do you guys typically pair your cigars with? Coffee, beer, spirits?

I do enjoy a good cigar but I only smoke maybe 6-10 times per year on real cigars so I wouldn't call myself an aficionado or anything.

So far the only brand that I keep coming back to is Rocky Patel. I think 1997 is one I've had a lot but anything by them seems to be aces. I've had a lot of hit or miss stuff otherwise but Rocky never disappoints.

Fun story - I didn't realize "cigar drunk" was a thing until @Kak handed me (I believe) an Opus X. I think I got half way through it before I was knocked flat on my a$$ while @Vigilante and @Kak puffed casually away as this rookie's world was spinning under his feet for the next 30 minutes :p

Good times :)

If you ever get down to Tarpon Springs at the sponge docks there is a guy who sits in a little booth and hand rolls cigars. Awesome experience to just sit by the sponge docks and smoke one of his better than average hand rolled masterpieces.

In fact, I think I will go down there this afternoon.

I might have to invite you and your bottle of scotch over sometime.

Unless someone wants to babysit my business, no Fastlane summit for me for at least 2-3 years.

I'll join via Skype and puff away virtually

Man do I have to bump this thread.

I have a new relationship with cigars since the Summit.

Before it was a way for my father and I to have an excuse to hang out. I really didn't think too much about it aside from that.

Since the Summit, smoking a cigar has taken on a new meaning. It means; new friends, reinforcing existing relationships, good conversation, business, positive feelings, dreaming, future.

Could I have done all of this without a cigar?

Yes, for sure. But something magical happens when you when light a $20 stogie sitting at a table with the coolest people on earth.

Next year, I'm bringing my pipe.

Nothing like smoking from a pipe either ( not a crack pipe.... )

Took @Greg R recommendation and got an Undercrown and paired with a Bourbon barrel aged imperial IPA.

We need to hear from @Chitown -- I want to hear a true story!
@MJ DeMarco

True Story...

The first time I ever smoked a stick that stayed in my memory bank was about 10 years ago. I was hanging out at The Beverly Hills Hotel - back when you could smoke on the damn patio, but I digress - with a friend who was not doing well. I invited him out for the night to cheer him up and we just chilled at the hotel, smoking and drinking.

I had a Partagas 160. Hot damn! I pulled a drag off that bad boy and almost peed my pants. I remember thinking, "WTF? Is this what I've been missing?" I enjoyed it with a nice full California cabernet, which I don't remember. But I remember that cigar. Damn good smoke. I also like the Rocky Patel Sun Grown, Padron Serie 1926 maduro - the '64 is a little too bitter on the finish for my taste.

I recently had a Cuban smoke, Behike. Mmmmaaannn, I'm trying to tell you! Another great smoke. I like to pair full bodied cigars with commensurate libations. Favorite libations: Scotch: Lagavulin. Bourbon: Maker's, Booker's or Blanton's. Wine: Joseph Phelps, Insignia,

I found a 2017 Fuente eye of the shark. It's sitting in one of the humidors I got from a friend. As I reread this thread I am sitting on my patio smoking a local hand-rolled cigar from the Tarpon Springs Sponge docks. Nightcap of some Patron Silver.

Hey aficionado. Don't miss this thread where today and tomorrow (or until they sell out) I am offering our 50 cigar humidor at 50% off for fastlane members only. Do you own a humidor? Post your humidor pictures here. I will post mine a bit later... I have two of the BCIC humidors that I bought from @Kak before I ultimately bought his company.

I have been known to smoke a bad cigar every once in a while.
Unless I bring you a good cigar because I feel sorry that you smoke Swisher's. :hilarious:

What do you guys typically pair your cigars with? Coffee, beer, spirits?
Diet Coke.

I have been known to smoke a good cigar every once in a while.
A fond memory I have is the time you, @MJ DeMarco, @Chitown, @Kreedos Phoenix and myself had cigars at the cigar lounge in Talking Stick during The Summit. What a great night.

I love cigars. I typically have Liga Privada #9 fired up with a glass of Glenlivet. If not, maybe a Padron1926 or My Father. Way too many choices out there. Glad we share a commonality.

Good man! I have the 1926 and the 1964 anniverserie aging right now.... Good taste my friend.

MJ you need a care package assembled by the cigar lovers on this forum. Unsure if the swisher sweets comment was joking or serious, but to even joke about SS means you are in great need of some guidance :p

BTW, I LOVED the cigar I had yesterday, and the chance to spend 20 minutes chatting with @Scot

That being said, the lasting after effects of cigar smoke in your mouth is gross.

Brushing my teeth a few times plus a little mouth wash was enough to buy me 24 hours until the residual was gone.

The cigar was awesome, hand rolled locally and would match up against any brands 4-5-6x as much.

However, if there was one reason I would never load up the humidor @Kak gave me, it's because I like my breath to be minty fresh.

You should try it. It's great. Did you ever wish you could light up in your living room watching TV? In front of people you would piss off? Around people pissing you off? Pop a piece. I always take pleasure when someone asks if they can bum a piece of gum I always say that was my last one while my anger melts away.

Got this sitting around aging...

Smoked one of these sitting with some great friends at Freedom Square
(Plaza de la Revolucion), Havana, Cuba two years ago.

One of the best.

It wasn't the cigar alone, that made it memorable, but what comes with the cigar....

To enjoy the taste of great friendship, the sights and sounds, a '57 Chevy rolling by, and realizing that life is good...

I am not by any means an aficionado, but I am a newbie and loving cigars! My favorites so far are Regius Robusto, Oliva, and A. Fuente Robusto. I've had a few others such as Ashton and Undercrown, Avo and Rocky Patel that were enjoyable as well. This is all pretty new to me, but I've found cigars paired with Bourbon to be a great way to relax and focus.

I'm looking forward to exploring the world of cigars, and was really excited to see this topic show up in the feed.
