Franchise Brings Hospice-Care Model to Pets <- Entrepreneur Magazine article

Here's a quick case study I put together to show that any business or concept can be franchised successfully.

Lap of Love is a business that has several successful franchises that specialize in veterinary hospice care. Two veterinarians in Florida created a home call practice where they offered both hospice care and in home euthanasia for families and their pets.

Over just a few short years, they have grown to a network of over 90 part and full time doctors who can offer these services.

Where this business really succeeds is that the founder created a business in which she was the primary worker and over time systematized it so that she can now work on the business, not in it.

They have a great software set up where clients can choose the time they want for an appointment or request a doctor from the service as well. This is the definition of fastlane for the founder, as her time is removed from the equation.

Better yet, by having a franchise model, her business is able to provide medical care halfway across the country without her doing any work.

This is also a prime example of spotting white space in the market. Hospice care is readily available in human medicine, but up until Lap of Love, it was not widely practiced in veterinary medicine. Most end of life care was provided in clinic by individual practices.

The founder was able to recognize the need for these services as well as the need to provide comfortable in home euthanasia for pets.

Who We Are M <- Their "About Us" Page

For anyone out there wondering how they can systematize their skilled labor into a business, this is a prime example of a business to emulate.

*for those of you who know my wife's profession, she is in no way affiliated with this business. I have no affiliation with them either.
