This is awesome!
I'm glad that you've found that thread useful.

Here is what I've learned since then, it's been almost a year:

The modern diet and way of living is a sure-fire way to fail at everything in life. It's remarkable that it actually has a 100% success rate, meaning that if you do what everyone else is doing, you are almost guaranteed to fail.

It's highly likely that you've developed at least 5 destructive habits by now (behavioral, psychological, or both).

The most effective antidote to getting out of this state is to create a vision for your future self, and pursue what you find to be meaningful. Make your life so interesting, that watching youtube or playing videogames becomes boring and dull by comparison.

We are not stupid creatures.
We will always go for the highest reward that requires the minimum amount of effort. Always.

This can have disastrous consequences, or can be the fastlane to success, depending on what you do with this basic fact of human neurology.

Make your business, education, and athletic pursuits the most important things in your life. They should be shinning brighter than the sun. You will naturally gravitate towards them, and you will start seeing your current "fun" habits as the bullshit obstacles that they really are.

Focus heavily on the training and diet, because those will accelerate the progress and will turn your brain into a tank that crushes everything in its path to reach all of your goals.

Do not get discouraged if and when you relapse.

Progress WILL NOT be linear.

When you fall down, you get back up and you continue on the path.

Good luck.

Greetings to the Top Guns and Young Guns of the Fastlane Forum!

I am doing a 90 days hard challenge which basically means...

NO..
  • Social Media
  • Junk Foods
  • Couch
  • Pleasure eating
  • TV
  • Action Faking

I am challenging myself to stop the action faking since it's tiring and the time wasted can't be taken back.

I was looking at the forum threads of accountability thread and I found @heavy_industry's thread and it inspire me to do the same.

Now I am at day 11 and I fall to short at day 10-11 at social media, junk foods, TV, pleasure eating and action faking which I think If I make a big decision I will not make the right decision since my Ventral Lateral Prefrontal Cortex is fried.

I can't whine now about my ignorance of the risks of mindless consuming of info and junk food since it was ignorant choices. Now it's time to make my life better 1% everyday by commiting to not fall short on the challenge I'd set myself. Even though it's hard, I will persist on staying the course no matter how hard it is and trust me it gets harder and harder everyday especially when you're addicted to all those things you've deprive yourself.

    But as @heavy_industry said
"It's hard to do all those things for a month, but the alternative is worst. Depression is a special kind of hell that I am not going back to."

Time to concentrate on gaining clarity and to live a meaningful life. I encourage all of you who are tired of action faking to stop doing all mindless consuming and start build yourself by taking care of yourself.

Let's begin!

What happens after the 90 days? You'll start eating junk food and scroll on social media again?
After 90 days of this strict regiment he will have conquered the vices and bad habits which he has identified replacing them with his new productive habits.

Think of it like a 90 day strict diet where you commit to not break the diet under any circumstance. Once its completed you can now have a slice of cake if its a special occasion but you maintain your lean body with the habits you have formed.

Day 29-31 update

Falled short to pleasure eating. Distracting myself for the passiveness am I doing in the office. It's like I am waiting a chauffer to connections, knowledge and skills. I am averse to engagement because I don't feel that they will appreciate my opinion. I am tired of being a shadow of my dad.
day 32-35 update

I fall bad these past few weeks on pleasure eating and junk foods. My morale is low and I was shy to bring the updates here because of falling bad. Tomorrow is another day of working, I need to hammer it down to my head that I have a challenge to overcome. I am being a bitch these past few weeks and it's time to take ownership of what's in my full control which is my MIND.

Congratulations.

You've done 30 days to get to this point. Now the real test begins.

Are you going to give up when things don't go according to plan, or are you going to continue steering the ship in the right direction?

This is exactly like lifting weights: 80% of the improvement and actual hypertrophic stimulus is happening when you are at the last reps and can barely keep holding the weight in your hand.

Winning is not about having everything go perfectly.
It's about successfully recovering from multiple setbacks, when all your competition already gave up.

Let's do this brother!

I would suggest picking just one habit that you want to completely remove from your life and destroy it by the end of the 79 days.

Once it's completely out of your system, focus for 1-3 months on the next bad habit.

Everything seems so overwhelming because all those habits is what you've been practicing for your entire life. You are now hardwired to seek them.

Defeat them one by one and in 2 years life will be so awesome you won't be able to believe it.

Case in point: I am heavily addicted to training hard and I cannot stop doing it. This is my default behavior. This is an example of habit that is working for - not against you.

  • Tv
All check! :checkbox:

I did
  • Jog
  • Rosary
  • Bible study
  • Create a roadmap for my 90 hard days challenge
  • Eat clean
It feel great to go outside again and I did go to a local sportshub. The sunset is pleasing to my eyes and the surroundings is very green. I'll do some sleep adjustment until I wake up daily at 5 am. Thank you for the accountability fellow brothers! I am pump to keep going since I am being watched by my daily activities.

Bible verse for today

You've give me hope and motivation to keep up until the end!
I'm glad to hear this brother!

I thought you completely ignored my thread due to lack of updates these past few days.
No, but I was watching silently waiting for this moment to come. I knew that it was going to happen.

Now you are face to face with the King of Monsters. The worst enemy you will ever have.

It's your previous self that you've built over the years. All the bad habits, all the destructive behavior, all the things that you do not want to be - but is you, is now strangling you to death and wants to pull you back into the crab bucket.

If you let it win, it will become stronger.
If you let it die, you will become free.

Now, let's improve the strategy a bit:
One of the best way to change your behavior is to change your environment:
  • uninstall all social media
  • unplug the TV cord
  • don't have the junk food around
    • maybe talk to your parents about this - they will benefit as well
  • as soon as you get bored or tempted to do the bad things: GET OUT OF THE HOUSE, GO OUTSIDE

After you move away from your parents, you will have more flexibility in terms of optimizing your environment.

Good luck and let's stay focused. 50 more days to go - one at a time.

after 90 days I will still continue the positive habits because it's silly to let yourself backslide after all the hardship you've taken. And i'm preparing for the upcoming admission test on Philippine Military Academy.

  • Junk food
I am starting to love eliminating one vice at a time! I am 3 days free from junk foods. Praise the Lord! I played basketball with my neighbors and lost the 1st game and reflect after the defeat why we lost and then I noticed that I am not paying attention to my opponents moves. I am playing in autopilot and not focusing at the task at hand. And I remember the GOLD thread of @heavy_industry on how to reflect on gaining wisdom. First, I take mental notes of the present information at the court. Second, I started to ask my gut what to do and follow it. When the second game comes, we win. Such a knowledge to know here. I am loving it!

You got this!

Realize that, even if you set yourself that goal of Hard Challenge, there will be times when the going gets tough (hence the name! )

Do not get discouraged if and when you relapse.

Progress WILL NOT be linear.

Remember this ^^^.

Whenever I set myself on difficult goals or challenges, I used to beat myself up for relapsing just a single day out of a 100.

Become grateful for those 99 days, learn from them. Think of goals as circular, since even if you relapse, you have previous knowledge and experience to fall back on, to push you back up on your feet.

Good Luck!

I’ve noticed that my progress is up and down. This day is up, the next day it’s down. I’ve also noticed that the past lessons keeps repeating and that means I am not holding myself accountable.
This is the first stage of transforming yourself.
Understanding the depth of your lack of self discipline, as well as the consequences it has on your life.

Even though some days are going to be worse than others, the important thing is to become fully aware of your actions. Allow yourself to feel the pain of failure. Every time you do this, your brain gradually learns to avoid the behavior that has caused you pain.

Stay on the path.
Step by step you will achieve your goals.

not getting the wisdom to process my emotions. I am now curious and willing to adjust if someone enlighten me on how to deal with this.
Best thing I've ever done for my mental health was to fix my diet and train as hard as I can. Sleep also plays a foundational role in your neurological health.

As soon as you get this physiological foundation set, life becomes a lot easier and negative emotions become a lot easier to process.

Day 78-90 update

A confession.
This is the last day of my 79 hard challenge, and this is the time where I will tell you what I've learned, and what happened to my last 12 days before the end of my 2nd quarter.

At first, before I start dwelling unto this challenge, I thought I can keep up until the end. But I was wrong, I thought it will be a smooth ride but heck it is a roller coaster ride full of ups and downs. New conditions spawn that I didn't take account of that leads me to falling short to my challenge. There was a time where I am discouraged to continue but fought back because I know that progress is not linear. Fall short and succumb to my old vice that I thought I had completely eliminated (which is watching porn and jerking off). That's what happened on my last 12 days and F*ck it, belial had a grip on my mind again. I am aware of the effects of watching porn and jerking off. The effects of porn in my brain is like smoking weeds, it keeps you comfortable and I am aware that I am not doing jack shit and my cultivated strength is slowly dripping away. I asked the Lord for help because I can't do it alone, I need his grace.

Now that I am aware of such things, instead of setting challenges of no eating junk of no this no that, I will now challenge myself to help people, build fortitude, and build my intimate relationship with God. Conquering your vices needs a replacement and without replacement, you will succumb to it again. Environment must be changed in order to change my actions.

Anyway, there's still plenty of chances to steel myself and with this knowledge gained in the past 3 months, adjustments will be applied, and the lessons will not be forgotten. I will not stop chasing excellence until it is earned! On to the next quarter!

PS: without @heavy_industry 's thread, my thread will not birth unto existence that leads to self-discovery that I am mediocre. Thank you for your guidance.

also curious. I believe if you'll actually be honest with yourself and avoid all this crap it will become your habit, so i dont think 90 days is what you should aim for. Setting goals and deadlines is really helpful when it comes to mindset, but it's basically like smokers, you don't quit smoking for a week or two. Your primary goal is forever, so i suggest you to do the same.

This is the beginning of a long game plan brother.
You can do the healthy habits, read books and the mindset stuff but it doesn't move the needle entrepreneurship wise. Finish Unscripted and jump in the pool. Right now it just seems like you're avoiding the business part.
Don't take this to heart, I used to waste too much time like that and I posted this in good faith.

I am still working for my dad as a driver and things are thwarting the process... man I failed again to resist the temptation to eat junk foods. I ate pizza, ice cream, tamarind candy, drink milk tea and said to myself this will be the last one and will go cold turkey in this shit by preparing my food before we go to my dad's project. The domino effect is real... it's easy to go downhill and hard to go uphill.

Change the language of this .....

do a positivity 21 days ...... praise all the things you DID get done each day for 21 days .... forget the things you didn't. commit to not missing two days in a row on those.......

one mistake failure for those with no prior success leads to failure
change your approach and mindset ... lean INTO your weakness and build strength!
