Are you using KPI dashboards?

Hey guys,
are any of you using KPI web dashboards (e.g. Klipfolio) for your businesses?

What exactly are you using them for? Did you have any problems setting them up or some other issues with them?

I am thinking about implementing one for our consulting business. However I am not sure, if I am able to set them up (connect them to databases, synchronize offline files etc.) and if they are really beneficial.

Just my .02: Most people don't know the mechanics of their business well enough to effectively utilize KPIs. Source: Multiple ERP implementations.

For example: That KPI blindly pulls from data. Most small businesses haven't really engineered the way they input data into say, Quickbooks for example. Unless you've given good thought to the quality of the dataset the KPI pulls from, the indicator itself is basically useless.

The process of going through the data, really looking at it, and deciding how to record transactions, in almost every case, I've found to be more useful than the KPI that came out of it.
