Just wanted to pass this along...

Just got back from dinner with my better half Being Chewsie and family. We went to Bluewater Grill here in PHX....on Camelback, just North of 16th Street.

We decided to go to Bluewater's location here as the location in Newport Beach, CA was one of our favorites....not for the service mind you, which generally sucked, but for the food and the way it was prepared.

We became aware of Bluewater's PHX location and have known about it for some time now...but have put off going because despite or good food experiences in Newport Beach, we figured that being the same outfit, service would be abysmal as well.

....we decided to give them a chance today and try it out. Oddly enough, as we walked in the door, Being Chewise and I again remarked to each other, "Well, hopefully the food will be as good...and that'll make this one trip here not a total loss."

Once seated, we had a genuine Superior Unexpected Customer Service event...our waiter Herb was attentive but not obtrusive, bread service was great and drinks promptly refilled, food was served hot and also promptly. Then the truly unexpected happened...(back when we first sat down and he came to the table, he asked if we had been to Bluewater before. We simply replied that we had been to the Newport location many times and it was one of our favorites.)...we asked to see the menu again as Mikey wanted to get dessert. Herb advised us that he had taken the liberty of picking out a dessert for us that was going to be comp'ed as their way of thanking us for coming to their location. Shortly thereafter, the manager David came to our table to say hello and to make sure everything was going well. We explained our less than stellar service experiences with the Newport location, how much we appreciated the service Herb gave us and complimented David on his operation.

So there it is...we expected our dining experience to SUCK but instead had one that S*U*C*S.....just goes to show you how people will react when you give them the S*U*C*S experience MJ articulates so artfully in his book -- and how much it can add to the value of your business, service and company.

Bluewater Grill....on Camelback, just North of 16th in PHX...ask for Herb...but I have a real strong feeling that just about everyone there is of the same caliber....I know we'll definitely be going back.

Awesome story, and yes, a classic example of "SUCS"! Thanks for posting your experience.
