[8] Steven VanCauwenbergh, Entrepreneur, Real-Estate Investor, Podcaster, Multi-Millionaire @Boom Topic: Scaling Your Business Venture, From Zero to Thousands, Or Thousands to Millions

About Steven: A 46-year-old entrepreneur, Steve is already YEARS into his financial freedom through building several businesses in the service-based industries of accounting (2019), music business (1992 - 2015), bridal (2000 - 2011) and real estate investing (1999-Present).

His unique story is a veritable rags to riches. Raised by his single mother in a one-bedroom apartment in New Jersey, he grew up with one simple dream: He just wanted to live in a house, not an apartment! A friend handed him a book to read and he sold everything he owned and started buying properties from 1999, he purchased more than 240 rental units starting from nothing.

IN 2011 he read Millionaire Fastlane and it changed his for the second time! One major principle that made him a multimillionaire was to exit low-barrier entry businesses where he immediately sold a bridal business. (www.okbride.com).

FASTER FORWARD to 2019, Unscripted humbled and grounded him to ‘what’s the purpose of driving so hard’ & ‘celebrate, life is passing’. Now he pushes himself to outsource greatly and enjoy a lifestyle he only dreams of. He now have been repositioning himself to buy bigger assets (barrier of entry) like commercial office buildings and retail strip centers. In 2019 has been his year of ‘Why Not’ so he's ventured into a sector he found as his weakness: accounting. As such, he bought 50% of an accounting firm he's used in the past seven years, having the unique position of being the first in the booming industry of cannabis.

Honestly this could be an awesome thing. Take somewhat High-Quality footage, put the footage on YouTube and let people share it. Some of those videos could make the Fastlane philosophy go viral.

The Fastlane Summit is sooooooo scaleable.

As long as the speakers agree they would be cool with that. But even if some speakers wanted to opt-out they wouldn't have to be part of it.

I respectfully disagree because those that make the sacrifice of time, money and effort to travel across the country are the types I want to be speaking to.

I have been to B&Ps before. I hosted an event for forum members as well. It isn't grab a$$... Most people leave not only energized to deploy some new tools, but also with great friendships. It is worthwhile well beyond the presentations.

Entrepreneurs are not rewarded without sacrifice. The same should be true for an event like this one... Especially since the sacrifice is minimal relative to the known benefits of attending.

Let me talk about my consumer products company... I didn't have one before the first B&P I attended. Within 3 months I had a second profitable company because I met @Vigilante. There is NO OTHER REASON I would have started that company.

It wasn't some amazing success story, but it did provide me with a half a million dollars worth of actual income over the years and it also introduced me to my great friend that would ultimately buy the company. So yes. My ROI on the probably $1500 I spent on the whole trip was a half a million dollars and counting.

In psychology terms... Wait 5 minutes and you can have more cookies.

One thing leads to another. Be there or have regrets.

NEW SPEAKER ANNOUNCED!

Mona L.
@Bertram, A Senior Research Scholar from Duke University.

Topic: Getting Attention. Dropping Distraction.

Mona does research on mental states, attention, a new model of consciousness, and cross-cultural ideas about well-being. Her discoveries are useful and kinda wildly unexpected. This work has provided her with the ability to deliver a really purposeful presentation for forum members. Join us for a helpful, accurate talk on time management and distraction and their effects on the domains of work, relationships, and oneself. She will cover the basics without the hackneyed, disempowering myths about technological triggers, addiction, habits, and ADD/ADHD. The focus is to learn the tools to make changes and live your life, not the life that is the sorry outcome of distraction. In addiction to undermining one's career and business, distraction causes friendships to run dry and marriages to become miserable and conflictive. It also results in poor health and a shortened life. She will also touch on research on the six attentional states, and those which one uses in order to think creatively.

Man, I am stoked to see old friends and meet some new ones!
I'm really thinking of adding a day or two to my itinerary just to hang out with some of you.

I mean, how many times do we all get to hang out with a bunch of fastlaners and aspiring fastlaners???

The VALUE we surround ourselves with, multiplies the VALUE we can ultimately bring forth to our world.

How many chances do we all get in any given year to be surrounded by other value creators???

Hello-o-o-o????

If you are or plan on being a value creator, you need to be at this Summit!

On stage and in front of everyone.....

Lemme reply seriously cuz that brother/sister thing we do where you kick me out of the nest and then I pick on you as I start flapping furiously and possibly falling to my death might not be coming across as humorously as I intend it to in a public thread.

I’m paying - what to me - is a huge amount of money and rearranging my life -and the lives of my two kids- to go to this so I can invest in the friendships I have already made w/ ppl I value. I look forward to forming friendships with some of the leaders whom I don’t know.
Hell, just to say thank you to MJ for what he’s done is worth the price of the ticket.

I’m excited to learn. I know I joke on here.. but that’s cuz I feel comfortable here. That’s a testament to just how awesome and supportive this community is. It’s not public humiliation to get up on stage and answer questions if you’re surrounded by friends.

Also, I want to learn from ALL the brilliant minds. If every speaker was like, “I’m gonna give laser focus to three people up on stage, I wonder who?” You bet your a$$ I’d be volunteering to go up on stage ten times.

It’s baffling to me that nobody else has volunteered for the lil lesson you’re giving. At the very least I get to hang out with you and hear your thoughts from a good seat. At the most? I get real help and ideas and life-changing advice. (Preferably without crying..lol)

This whole thing is gonna be great. I trust you guys.

FYI: Love that the ladies have stepped up, another speaker invite is outstanding which would make half of the confirmed speakers women thus far.

NEW SPEAKER ADDED!

Christopher C., CPA, @CareCPA
Topic: How to keep clean books so you can maximize the EXIT for your business at top dollar, with easy due diligence for your potential buyers. Methods for keeping clean books, taxation issues, eCommerce accounting, etc. Good books? Get a good exit, and fast!
Looking forward to it.
I'm still refining the topic, so we'll clean this description up as we do.
Since we want this to be beneficial (and hopefully not boring), people are free to send me PMs on specific topics they'd like to learn more about.

Hell yes! Great list.

Some amazing topics that have my attention!!

For anyone doubting: I promise you this will be a catalyst in exponentially changing your life and the way you operate.
As well as creating friendships forever.

Till today, I still speak about @Vigilante's speech, but even more how welcome he made me feel (and with me many others), how amazing @Red is and was and became the catalyst to life changing, and and and...
(p.s. why aren't you speaking Vigilante, I might have missed this being discussed due to being offline for long).
(shoot, I'll end up tagging everyone. But you get the idea).

The atmosphere is UP UP UP UP, smashing mental containers, and UP UP UP.

See you at the Summit

Y’all need to understand that most people attend for the life-changing recalibration. My emergency business contacts have almost all come from the meet ups. The speeches are valuable but the connections are invaluable.

@ZCP, this encouragement toward @Primeperiwinkle is why I want to go to the conference: genuine concern for the success of other people. Each speaker is so generously giving: with their time, with the preparation, and with the sharing of their knowledge. I want and need to network with people like that. Networking is why I joined the forum online, so I wouldn't miss the opportunity to meet all of you like-minded people in person. I. Can't. Wait.
This is what @Vigilante is trying to say to @ChrisV ........ if we record these, it might give someone the excuse to stay home. They may miss a chance to change someone's life. The presentations are just the garnish on the plate. Come early, stay late. Spend the whole time trying to help others however you can.

Then as @Vigilante was saying .... on the flight home or when you first get back, go back through your notes. Reflect. Rewrite them. Block some thinking time. Sit back with your feet on your desk. Ask yourself what did I hear, see, feel? Then make an overall guide, then an action plan, then a list of people to directly contact and start to REGULARLY contact and help. Form mastermind groups. THAT is what this community and this Summit are all about.

Honestly I'd be willing to speak on anything at this point. Gotta get my public speaking chops leveled up before this coming year where I plan on hitting several large venues.

Washed down with a nice smooth glass of bourbon, eh? Or was that whiskey?
It was Jim Beam!

I also remember something about Walmart's response protocol to email interactions. 24 hours or less.

I also remember walking to lunch with @million$$$smile and @Vigilante. Vig said something like "it is only a grand or two to try this business out."

A janitor for the hotel or some random guest turned and said "hey man, $1000 is a lot of money." Without missing a beat, Vig replied "you should raise your expectations." Love that!

So, maybe a silly question but we are allowed to take notes, correct?

I have been to some conferences where they forbid note taking and/or phones.

One of the best ways to decompress after the conference is to go backwards through your notes and review them and maybe rewrite them. There will probably be some people live tweeting a couple of the key points from the speeches. The first year I was there I took almost a notebooks worth of notes.

I'm still willing to speak if you need me to. I can talk about my experiences in building an enterprise software company. Tentative title" Race You to the Top: How I'm Going to Beat @Kak to a Billion Dollar Company"

I love this so much!

That title STAYS!

In the spirit of competition, I requested my title to be changed to: "I'm Building an Empire and So Can You!"

My only request (If you choose me) is to have me speak after Kyle. I wouldn't have gotten the results I have without his help on the thinking big mindset. So I think it would be beneficial to have folks learn from him first, then see what it looks like in action.

Most of the speakers if not all would disagree. The things I have shared at these meet ups are not intended for public consumption. My comments are intended for a private group of interested and qualified attendees.
