At first I wanted to disagree, but I get what you mean now. Your goal has to be measurable... So if the goal is to get in shape, it should be written something like:
Lose two inches off my belly.
Reduce heart rate from 'moderate' exercise to a 'normal' level.
Be able to carry 25kg comfortably.


So here's one of mine, re-written. Before: Spend less time on forums.
Now: Spend no more than 2 hours a day on forums.

Actually, that was a rip off from a buddy of mine, Cameron Herold. He wrote a FB post about goal setting. He is truly an inspirational entrepreneur and one I truly admire.

I have only three concrete goals (and more that aren't as quantifiable or important at the moment)

1. Completely destroy the cancer that is trying to destroy me. By January 1st 2012
2. Have $30,000 US in my trading account by January 1st 2012
3. Have $20,000 US in my poker accounts by January 1st 2012

I know the us dollar is going to hell, but I'll be primarily dealing with US and Canadian equities. For Canada I'll have an account dealing with CA dollars. For the USA I'll need a US denominated account.

My 2011 goals are:

(1) Get fit and well -- lose 50 pounds by July 1, 2011 and work on eliminating my back and leg pain
(2) Make $3,000/month as an affiliate marketer by January 1, 2012
(3) Create and sell my own info-product; create 3 special reports and 3 ebooks for opt-in giveaways
(4) Build a list of 10,000 subscribers by January 1, 2012
