As far as I see, some people who were mac fans weren't impressed (and even in the MacRumors community, opinion was divided). As I see it, the iPod wasn't directed at Mac fans so much as it was directed at expanding the fanbase, which it succeeded to do.

Anyway, an interesting find, thanks for sharing!
