The journey to 1,000,000 followers is frozen.
Hey Damian,

I was reading some of your journey. I can help you automate most of the tedious work (like post scheduling, auto follow / unfollow, etc...)

Lets connect. I checked out your profile and with the content you produce I know the dashboard can help you help yourself.

Like I said, with your content strategy I foresee some good numbers.

Sucks you wasted money on those "gurus"... especially over $10k, but that's business right.

I don't understand how people can charge without results and expect to be legit... lol

UPDATE!

LESSON 1:
AN EXTREMELY EFFECTIVE INSTAGRAM TACTIC BASED BASED ON PROVEN PRINCIPLES OF HUMAN PSYCHOLOGY

For Virtually Unlimited Growth - Even If You Start Without Any Promotional Budget

Using this simple tactic, you can grow your Instagram by 1000s, 10,000s or even 100,000s of followers, within a few hours.

Now, disclaimer, although it has tremendous growth potential, the exact growth depends on who helps you execute it. I will explain this in a second.

This is actually how I got most of my 40,000+ followers on my personal account, before I paused this social media experiment (for reasons explained in previous posts)

24909

This is something extremely simple actually, but you probably haven't thought of doing it. Big influencers often use this strategy to grow extremely fast.

Think about it like having a fire that's burning lightly, and then throwing some gasoline on it. IT BLOWS UP!

So let's see how you can blow your account up shall we?

STEP 1: The first thing you want to do, is put your account on private.

Why do you do this?

When you put an account on private, it fosters a sense of community and exclusivity. Not everyone can see the content of the account, but only those who are ACCEPTED as a part of the community.

Anyone who has a rudimentary understanding of human psychology, sales and persuasion can understand how powerful this is. When combined with targeted traffic and social proof, it's game over. You've won the IG game.

So, when that targeted traffic drops on your profile, they can only see 3 things. Your bio+link, profile picture and follower/following count ratio.

If your presentation is intriguing, they will have no option but request a permission to follow you. That's the ONLY way to see the content they are interested in. They cannot scroll down your feed and use that as a deciding factor for whether to follow you or not.

Now, a word of caution. You absolutely do NOT want to have your account on private all the time. This is key. You only selectively use this strategy when you're sending targeted traffic towards the profile.

STEP 2: Send Targeted Traffic

How do you send traffic? It depends. It could be by running a video Ad on IG. It could be by getting shout outs on big pages. It could be by cross-promoting IG on your other social media platforms. It could be [insert whatever targeted traffic generating strategy].

Let's assume that you are shouted out on another big page, for the shake of simplifying this. These shoutouts don't really cost much. You could get one for as low as $50, although they could go up to $500.

This is what I meant in the beginning, that the growth from this depends on who helps you execute it. There's a way to do it without paying, which obviously requires more effort and time on your part. But fundamentally, it works exactly the same. I will explain this towards the end.

Assuming that you have a budget for shoutouts - the most commonly used growth tactic - here is how you do it.

The content of the shoutout is of critical importance. Craft it the wrong way and your attempt will likely flop.

It must be created in a way that's engaging, that makes people want to see it. When you have the right message in front of a big page, you can see crazy growth in the thousands or tens of thousands of followers (depending on the size of the audience you're exposed to). What is more, the message has to be catered to this particular audience. You can't shout out a girls make up tutorial on a page about supercars.

The next step is leveraging the IG story feature of the page you got shouted out on. What you do with it is ask the audience if they want a big influencer to follow them.

If they vote YES, then you instruct them to go to the latest post in order to like and comment. Or to comment any word, letter by letter. This is done in order to boost engagement in that post, because generally promotional posts get less organic engagement. That's a problem, if you want to get additional free organic exposure from the Explore Page. When the followers of the big page engage with the post by commenting, IG's algorithm does its part at pushing the post to be seen by more people.

The reason why you use the polling feature to get a yes/no response stems from the science of persuasion.

When people express commitment for something, they are more likely to take action when you ask them to do something. This is known as the commitment/consistency bias.

If you just instructed them to go and like/comment to get followed by an influencer, a bigger percentage would ignore you, than if you made them say yes first to wanting to be followed. Then they go to the last post and engage. Alternatively you could tell them to swipe up to the Instagram TV video, if your shoutout wasn't a post on the feed.

This process is a clever trick to hack the algorithm and receive more traffic on the promotional post. It performs significantly better compared to a mere shout out.

IF YOU HAVE NO MONEY: This also works when you do Shoutouts for Shoutouts in order to grow (which cost nothing)

So you don't necessarily have to spend a dime to use this. Even if you have as little as 3000 followers, you could connect with other people with a similar following and use this strategy to transfer followers to each other. Use IG stories to promote your profiles whilst having them on private.

I'd personally recommend that you use this strategy combined with Instagram TV posts, because it's even more effective than regular posts on your feed. It's not been long since IG launched this feature. They have a big incentive to make it successful and "steal" users from YT so they are favoring those who are using it with more exposure.

On the flipside, there are a couple of disadvantages of using this strategy to grow. Private profiles do not have analytics and cannot run Ads while your profile is on private. So you lose access to data and have to pause or defer running Ads. This is not really a big problem for small accounts (<100,000 followers) because you will most likely not be running Ads anyway. There is a workaround though, by using your Facebook Page to run Ads on IG but that's a whole different story.

Overall, it's a highly effective strategy. The disadvantages are totally worth tolerating as you could expect crazy growth with this. You could even gain anywhere from 20,000 to 100,000 followers a day when you do this. This assumes of course that your traffic source is solid.

One last word of caution is, do NOT put your account back on public after doing this, without accepting all follower requests.

If you do so, the followers you didn't accept will be LOST as if they never followed you. Of course, it'd be extremely mundane to manually approve thousands of follower requests. Thankfully, technology saves your a$$ from this time consuming labor. You can use softwares such as Socialtools.io to do the hard lifting for you.

Anyway, this is it for today. Let me know what you think.

Are you going to implement this strategy? I would be thrilled to see your results!

PS:
Next time I post I might explain some Hashtag secrets for insane organic growth. You can use these to grow from ZERO, without spending a dime on shoutouts or Ads. These are extremely beginner friendly.

They've been tested on not 1 but 2 totally new accounts. One of them gained 19.800 followers and the other one 56.600 - JUST FROM HASHTAGS! - which is crazy because all the advice for hashtags you will find online is total nonsese.

If you've ever tried to use hashtags you were probably like "nah it doesn't work". Well, the hashtag code is now cracked. The exposure these hashtags hacks can generate is OFF THE CHARTS.

Check out the attached screenshots I took from their analytics. It's unbelievable and I can't wait to show you this (and more!).

Meh. I've grown an account to a touch under 80K through the amazingly secret hack of:
1 - produce unique and interesting content
2 - post it
3 - genuinely interact with others
4 - rinse and repeat.

You can "hack" and automate stuff but you get out exactly what you put in, you put in fake and automated comments, you're going to get fake and automated comments back. You follow / unfollow, you'll get people who only follow you because you follow them. All of this is pointless, you are not growing or developing a real and engaged community.

Absolutely!

One of the very first things I emphasized in this thread was the ineffectiveness of follow/unfollow.

No automation can replace genuine interaction.

What's the account Paul?

I'm sure we could learn a lot from studying it.

@paulmp (Paul Pichugin (@paulmp) • Instagram photos and videos) same as all platforms. I doubt you'll learn anything useful from looking at it, I'm at the point of potentially walking away from Instagram completely.

At its peak I was getting 10K+ likes per photo, engagement is all over the place now, some images get over 4K, others barely crack 300, the algorithm is really weird.

I was also part of your facebook group, but was getting pretty close to zero value out of it and got sick of certain types of posts that were just overly negative, I don't need that kind of negativity right now.

All the best with it all Damian.

It's a beautiful profile.

if there's anything this can teach you is that an IG account doesn't grow out of thin air.

The foundation of growth is "eye candy". You will unlikely go far on IG without visually pleasing imagery.

There are exceptions to this rule, in certain niches where you can get away with subpar visuals.

But in most cases, your account will not grow unless you 1) post awesome visuals and 2) do so on a consistent basis.

Every growth strategy I've shared so far assumes that you already know and apply this. However, this serves as a good reminder for everyone to realize that nothing will work without the proper foundation.

Both my personal profile as well as the brands I operate @addicted2view and @dancetvision have very good - at least above average - content foundation.

Nah, the foundation of IG growth is the virality / potential of the post to be good enough to be shared, that's how the Reach comes about. I checked out his IG page and he has some sleek and visually pleasing imagery, so not sure what you mean by that.

I like your @dancetvision page though.

Previously, I had a bit of homerun on IG by using bots to boost the reach of the post, and then letting it catch on organically. It works (e.g: real followers, real comments and likes), but recently, IG has been clamping down hard on these tools, so just gotta wait for the storm to pass.

This thread smells of a greasy sales funnel happening before our eyes, using all the hallmarks of @SinisterLex 's legendary Guru thread found here...

GOLD! - Guru Cults Exposed: The Tactics "Experts" Use To Pull You In & Suck You Dry

So far what I've gathered in several posts is this: Get a blue tick. Ok, isn't that obvious? Kinda like saying, "If you want to impress the easily impressionable, get a Lambo."

I hope something actionable comes soon because right now it feel like this content is simply to pimp a signature and bite forum users to a FB group. We're educated to the techniques, might work on other forums, but not here.

Try being genuine, we are your peers, not your target rich environment ripe ready to be sold.

That said, I would LOVE to be wrong and some GOLD follows. I'm all for having my foot shoved in my mouth!
LOL at the tags. I remember hearing about this guy when Victor Pride gave him a shout (Vic doesn't link to him anymore in the original article). 30 Days of X > Damien Pros. It's especially hilarious when Damien says things like don't be cynical. Some of us, like me, have been around the block and have seen internet marketers make far fetched claims. There are others here that can smell marketer talk a mile away either due to having street smarts or are born with 150+ IQ. Not trying to hate but like MJ said we're your peers, that funnels strategy isn't going to work.

With that being said just backwards engineer what Damien said/does and know that the law of attraction always apply. If you make your money through illegal means (I'm not accusing Damien of this) just don't be shocked when the feds are waiting at your door.

You're right the post's potential to become viral is very important.

But far more pages have grown by creating/curating visually pleasing imagery, than viral posts.

The common factor between almost all big pages is visually pleasing imagery that's posted consistently. Unless you're Dan Bilzerian and can post videos of you holding an alligator with 15 semi naked bikini models in the background.

UPDATE!

LESSON 2:
HOW TO GET THE PRESTIGIOUS BLUE CHECK MARK

The Formula For Making Your Instagram Verified

Like I explained in previous posts, a verification mark can help your account grow faster.

Verified accounts seem to be favored by the algorithm because they represent “notable” people who usually have “high status”.

What does that mean?

I will explain in a second. A common example of how the algorithm favors verified accounts is that it ranks the comments of verified accounts first in any comment section. This is just one way verified accounts receive more visibility.

Case in point: a comment of the famous YouTuber Rob Lipsett under one of my posts. It shows up 2nd, even though he wasn't the 2nd person to comment chronologically. This happens in every other post of mine where Rob ever commented.

24999

Also, from the same post, is comment even shows up as the only comment under the post, before you click the link to expand the comment section. Not a coincidence.

24998

Now, before detailing the exact steps you can follow towards verification, let’s clarify how you shouldn’t go about it.

Under no circumstances, do not get lured by profiteers who claim they can guarantee you a blue checkmark, as final approval is entirely dependent on you fulfilling specific qualifications Instagram has set for granting verified status.

You might have seen accounts on IG that have weird usernames and a verified checkmark, spamming the comment sections of big pages and trying to sell their “verification services”. This is highly questionable and involves a high risk of getting scammed or even banned from IG. Ignore those people. Honestly, I don’t understand how these bot pages have gotten verified in the first place. It’s really weird if you see it. But I wouldn’t trust them for a second to make my account verified.

There are also many fake profiles which promise to make your account verified if you repost an image and tag them, or if you directly pay them. Sure, if you want to jeopardize your account, get banned or lose your money.

25007

Also, ignore any kind of message from Instagram itself, telling you they want to verify you. This is a scam. It is not really Instagram messaging you, but rather an account or email address that has mimicked Instagram’s username/e-mail address.

Instagram will never really chase you for verification. Don’t get fooled by something that looks like Instagram, telling you that you're the "chosen one".

Nope! Scam!

One of the influencers in my Rolodex lost her "little" 100k follower account by falling prey to this. She got overly excited that she was chosen. When she clicked on the link she was sent by "Instagram" to confirm her verification, she was sent to a phishing site that gathered her login credentials. Lost the account forever and had to start over...

Verification is something that you request from Instagram. It will be granted if you fit particular criteria or denied if you don’t.

The main requirement for verification is presence & press outside of Instagram.
You have to be a person of “public interest”

Or as Instagram officially puts "a notable public figure"
25000

So, no matter what ANYONE tells you, there is NO hack in this world to circumvent this fact.

Stop looking for it, right now, and concentrate on what will really make you verified.

Which like in everything worth having in life, requires serious freaking work.

Surprised?

What qualifies you as a "notable public figure?" Mostly a combination of the following
  1. Interviews/features in popular media (magazines, radio, TV)
  2. Impersonators & fan accounts: either users pretending to be you or profiles made from fans
  3. Wikipedia page
  4. hundreds of thousands or millions of followers spread across various platforms
You don’t have to have all four of these, but I’ve listed them in order of significance.

25001

For example my friend @cobratate recently got verified on Instagram merely by having 3) and a little bit of 1)

He’s a 4x kickboxing world champion, hence why the wikipedia page and the write-ups about him. He doesn’t have massive press coverage, but what he had was enough. He had also participated in UK’s Big Brother TV Show, and probably got bonus points for that (person of public interest).

25002

Here you can see Andrew spilling to me the secrets of his Instagram verification process, whilst partying hard in Ayia Napa, Cyrpus.

I can already here you screaming "But I am not a 4x kickboxing world champion Damian. This won't work for me!"

Although I would like to pacify your concern, I have to admit that you're actually right.

Instagram's verification program is not for every day people, but let me tell you something, if you've not already lost interest in this.

You shouldn't aspire to be an everyday person anyway. Everyday people are slowlane. You're fastlane, aren't you?

Fastlaners can actually get verified, via their businesses.

If you've built a successful business, you can use it to get media coverage and "hack" your way into getting the verified badge EVEN on your personal profile!

So, even if you're not personally well-known, you can leverage your business's success in order to get verified.

You have to elicit public interest in some way. You have to be a somebody. A fastlaner with a successful business is a somebody.

So the question shifts from "how do I get verified" to "how do I get media coverage for my business?"

In my case I have a very strong portfolio of interviews and features in international media such as Forbes, Entrepreneur Magazine, Huffington Post and more.

Why am I not verified yet?

Well, my verification application got denied back in September 2018.

25003

Why?

I was informed be a very credible connection that I’d have to ALSO have a Wikipedia page to optimize my odds. On top of that, I would also need a notable PR agency to submit the verification application on my behalf, instead of submitting it myself.

(Andrew had both a Wikipedia page and a PR agency to get him verified so this confirms the above)

Now that we’re talking about connections, it’s been alleged by many that you have to have an inside person in order to get verified. Usually the PR agencies that submit your account have that kind of connection with Instagram staff that manages verifications. There might be a quid pro quo there, but this has never been confirmed by anyone officially for obvious reasons.

In my opinion this is possibly true, but there is no way to know. So there’s no point in further discussing it. Even if I had inside connections, I wouldn’t be able to disclose it, and so would do anyone who might have them.

However I am mentioning this to stress an important aspect for achieving success on Instagram, and beyond.

Networking. When you know people who know people, you have leverage that can grant you things most people can’t have. Like this information I am presenting you.

I’d never have known without a) my personal experience from trying to get verified b) the experience of my network of verified individuals, influencers and Instagram experts.

All in all, verification is not a significant trigger in follower growth, if that’s what you’re aiming for. Like I said in the beginning, the algorithm favors verified profiles, but up to a certain extent.

What verification is useful for, is networking and connecting with powerful people.

It gives you status and that makes connecting with important individuals easier.

Your comments stand out in their comment sections, they get notified for your comments, your messages stand out in their inbox, and if I’m not mistaken you also slide straight into their DMs, instead of the “other requests” inbox.

It would be good if you sell packages to those of us to hook us up with the big guys that you know.....
