I see this translated to a similar comic for fastlaners:

“100 economics students, guided by a brave professor, were forced to read TMFL. They met 10 years later. This is their story…”

But back to the original comic: 1 guy actually made it. The basic recipe:

- have a cheap marriage, if at all
- don’t have kids
- actively diversely invest in stock early on
- have a cheap car, if at all
- live “kiam sip”

You are set within 10 years having ~1 million in the bank.

Funny how FIRE movement’s living-now premises are super-conservative but their “financial independence” calculations are quite Laisser-faire. I. e. live as frugal as possible for 10 years but then with 1M in the bank you are all set to push through the next 50 years, working 6 months a year and traveling for the rest of the time. Good bet

Interesting! What do you mean by "without an ideological TMF wrapper"?

While I get not everyone wants kids, if your plan can only succeeds because you don't have kids - that plan sucks.

Seems like FIRE BS and the comments reek of mediocrity

Holy F*ck this is one of the softest and most depressing things I've read in a long time. Can't help but read it in a high-pitched whiny voice. Hope it's just a troll and not a real person.

I think humans as a species are born to survive and reproduce (fundamentally). We used to hunt and gather for food (to survive) and now we are working(job) for the same purpose.
However some people like us want to thrive in it and want to go beyond survival (that is job and all shit) that's why we are working on different paths and creating values.
Most people are fine with what they have( thaty is mediocrity) but we are not and thats why we are constantly putting efforts. And putting efforts is what's called "talent" i suppose. People are talented any many things just dont acknowledge it.

This reflects someone who has completely given up.

What a mental shitshow.

"I don't have talent" Duh, of course you don't. But you probably have a Reddit account and have spent countless hours collecting fake gold and superficial pat-on-the-back upvotes .. imagine if you spent that time trying to create yourself some real talent instead of being a whiny adult with the emotional intelligence of a 4th grader.

People like this are beyond help.

"What if you don't have what it takes?"

Well, you get better. And you don't take the username "mediocre man," for Christ's sake. The things we tell ourselves become true. Holy shit. This guy is committing psychological suicide, and is probably unaware.
