    Selling an Internet-Based Business

If nobody minds I'd like to bump my thread here and see if anyone has an opinion on the matter. Thanks.

    Selling an Internet-Based Business

I was hoping for just some general ideas on selling half of a business, from one 50/50 partner to the other. I'm looking at how to come up with a valuation for what we hope to be a very amicable parting between two very good friends. I'll use some fake-ish numbers for my privacy, I'm sure the...

Hey LimitUp, curious if you ever went through with this, and how it has gone for you?

    Real Estate: What's Your Style?

    REAL ESTATE
Hatterasguy, thanks for your ideas. What is "air space" that you are talking about in New York? I've never heard of that.

    Real Estate: What's Your Style?

    REAL ESTATE
AnneC, that is some fantastic information, thanks for taking the time to post it when you don't have to. Your point about sticking to one aspect and becoming a master at it really hit home for me because that is what I've done with my own business, intentionally turning down other ideas in order...

    Real Estate: What's Your Style?

    REAL ESTATE
Now that is some fantastic information! Honestly, with my VERY limited knowledge of anything related to real estate investing, my gut has been telling me for a while that the answer to my question is exactly what you are saying. I am sure there are many ways to skin a cat, but I think multi-unit...

    Real Estate: What's Your Style?

    REAL ESTATE
Flipping sounds awesome; I'm sure there is a lot of work to be done of course. Runum, I don't really know, that's why I asked. But since you pressed I'll just say that although I don't know much about any of them, on the surface of things it is rentals that catches my attention. In particular...

    Real Estate: What's Your Style?

    REAL ESTATE
I have no real estate experience, but want to consider it for the future. I'd like to pose a question, for fun. You can play if you want. If you were going to "do real estate" but for the rest of your life could only venture into one type, what would it be, and why? Acceptable answers would be...

    Best Book on 'Avoiding' Taxes

    TAXES | REGS
Completely avoiding income tax seems impossible, unless you want to just not make any money (hmm??), but are there any good books/websites/sources you guys are aware of on different ideas or investments and what not on how you can keep your tax burden down?

What Do You Think of My Business Idea?

    IDEA
Thanks guys, those are all very good points. @CommonCents, I disagree. I think the price of gold is extremely relevant. To use an extreme example, a 20% profit margin when gold is at $1500 per ounce is much, much more than if gold went crashing down to $300 per ounce.

What Do You Think of My Business Idea?

    IDEA
That's a great idea CommonCents; it was a big part of the book my friend wrote. He did mention in some states you will have to finger print people. Oh well.

What Do You Think of My Business Idea?

    IDEA
Thanks guys. As far as prices falling, I have thought about that one. I feel like if it goes down to $1200, $1000, even $800, there will still be a market. It was at $300 when my friend got into, during his hayday. I doubt we see that last price, but even if we did, it wouldn't take long to...

What Do You Think of My Business Idea?

    IDEA
Soliciting any and all input from you guys. I am interested in what is mostly known out their as the "Cash for Gold" business. Right off the bat I do want to ask if anyone knows anything I should know about this business? Ok, I became interested in this recently while reading a book about it...

My Personal Idea for Hiding/Protecting Wealth

    IDEA
Thanks Rickson, I appreciate the feedback. I wasn't investing in anything but college text books previous to 2006, so I don't remember that but to my finite mind I do see a big difference between holding precious metals vs. RE, that main difference being that I assume (but can't be completely...

My Personal Idea for Hiding/Protecting Wealth

    IDEA
I want to present an idea that has come to my mind for a way to preserve/protect and even hide wealth. I am not here to teach, however, I am here to learn. So please feel completely free to shoot holes in this and correct as you see fit based on your experience/expertise. The first thing I have...

    Purchasing Assets with Pre-tax Dollars

    TAXES | REGS
I want to revisit one part of this. I did some research and it seems that if you buy (finance) a rental property, the interest on the mortgage is tax deductible but the principle is not... is that right? So if I bought a home for 150k and put down 30k, that 30k needs to be paid tax on? Or, if I...

The Bitcoin: A New World Currency?

    OFF-TOPIC
For me, a currency will need to be backed by something real and tangible, probably gold or silver. Beyond that I guess I don't care to much what form it comes in. And if there can be many competing currencies, all the better.

    Purchasing Assets with Pre-tax Dollars

    TAXES | REGS
Thanks guys, in particular Taipan, for the great responses. The 1million dollar loan thing is also a bit confusing for me... but I'm not going to worry about that one for now as my numbers are much less than that. The Aston Martin example however, was very thought provoking for me. Question...
