Does MJ's current avatar bug anyone else?

    OFF-TOPIC
"97% of the people who quit too soon are employed by the 3% that never gave up" That doesn't make sense. Shouldn't it be 100%? They are two separate populations. It bugs me that this is promoting flawed mathematical thinking.

    Process: Landing page experiments

    EXECUTION
I'm going to dump some notes on my landing page experiments on this thread, hopefully they will be useful to someone. My goal was to get a response from the internet, using paid ads and a minimal amount of effort. I started with "finance" because I've had several finance-related project ideas...

    Wastefulness by Design

Hate to be "that guy" just posting links, but this one seems worth pointing out: http://themindunleashed.org/2014/12/lifestyle-already-designed-real-reason-forty-hour-workweek.html

    Importing and the Fastlane

    SOURCING
Been reading about some of the importing businesses people are starting or running, and just had two questions. 1) Commandment of entry - If you're just ordering stuff from Alibaba and reselling it, what's stopping anyone else from doing the same? Where's the barrier to entry? What's the USP...

Your s*** sucks and nobody cares

This post is about the Dip. These are usually written by someone who's now successful and looking back. This one is written being there. My hope is it'll be useful to someone here, maybe myself some time later. "Your stuff sucks and nobody cares." That's pretty much where I am right now...

    Old people, don't despair!

    HOT! MINDSET
I'm not usually one to just link to articles, but this one seems worth it: http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/238924 For the record, I'm newly 44 as I type this. I know many (if not most) of the members of this forum are in their 20s. Who here is over the "four-oh" and starting a business...

    Noob questions about FBA (Amazon)

Hey all, starting to get my business going. What I'm doing is snack boxes for a specific demographic. I've done some validation with retail-bought items and have a pretty good idea what will work for my audience. Amazon carries enough of the products I'm reselling that it would be possible to...

    Real simple - real snacks!

    EXECUTION
This is the progress thread for the new business I accidentally started at an event last weekend - for more about that check out https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/community/threads/startupweekend-post-mortem.55165/ To summarize: The business was pitched in 60 seconds on a Friday night, ignored...

    StartupWeekend post-mortem

Just got back from the Glacier Startup Weekend. This is an event sponsored by Google and others and they seem to have a lot of them, and since I'd never seen it mentioned here I thought I'd share my experience with fellow goatherders. Glacier means Glacier Park area of Montana, so I wasn't...

    Product validation vs. internet startup

Ok, I've been thinking about this for a while, but just can't reconcile some things here. First let me make sure I got the original FastLane story more or less right. MJ was a limousine driver and had several clients ask if he knew where to find a limo in other cities. Based on this, he built...

The product that will change how you think about MONEY - forever!

    EXECUTION
Sorry once again about the pompous thread title, I still haven't gotten over the novelty of copywriting "hooks". For what it's worth, my "intro" thread has 468 views, though other threads with titles like "Hello from California" have more. If you didn't look at my idea thread, read that one...

The next internet revolution - money for the masses

I've been trying to come up with the right way to post about this and finally decided to just go for it...apologies in advance if it's a bit sloppy and unfocused. So my idea (more of an insight at this point) is that we're at a unique point in time where everyone - and I mean EVERYONE - has...

Newbie reveals simple method for EXPLOSIVE exposure, read now!

    INTRO
Hi all, it's Montana Myke, and I don't have any simple method other than trying out the copy-writing tricks I've been reading about on this forum. The view counter will tell me if it worked! At 43 I seem to be older than most of the members here. I did the good grades, good school thing only...
