Hey Fastlane fam,
I’m throwing this out there to see what bites and if anything snags my attention.
I realize I like to think a lot and figure things out. Like, a lot. And most recently I’ve been doing this with life and the human psyche.
What kind of business can you start with philosophy...
yea I guess I grew up with a non-pro-capitalist mindset. not necessarily an anti-capitalist one, just not totally for it. and if anything my parents were probably somewhat more socialist or maybe even communist mentality. I'm not sure.
either way, I just need to fully convince myself that...
Yes I was seeing the glass half empty.
I think its my upbringing that has engrained in me a negative view of business and making money. Its the "I'm taking money from people" mentality. No bueno.
No doubt there are business out there that do good for just about everyone involved.
I'm working on...
ooo, very interesting perspective! I think I prefer the higher-up-the-pyramid niches. And yea, with this perspective, it makes sense that its inherently more ambiguous...whiiich I think I'm ok with.
Thanks for that
ha! love this. yes, be more lion.
Yea...got to face the facts I guess. My mom's a teacher.
Thanks Walter. Yea I just know that I've been the too-nice (and too-critical) guy for most of my life, and that type of mentality is now an obstacle in business. So I feel I need to redefine my ethics in...
Yea...reading back over what I wrote, I totally see how I "waste" resources from the company I work for. Am I always working at 100% output every hour that I bill my client? Nope.
When I was an employee too, I used to feel kinda bad for taking a little extra time getting snacks while in the...
I appreciate the detailed response @Ocean Man. Believe me, I've been doing a LOT of brain rewiring lately. And this is my latest sticking point, hence me reaching out for input :)
I'll definitely check out the book

haha, yes, this. accepting being an "a**hole"...
So I've been trying to figure this one out...
I know its a "mindset" or "belief system" issue, and I've been trying to crack it in my head, but could use some help.
It seems that no matter what business you're in, no matter how valuable your product is, no matter how much it actually helps...
Ok I'll add more about my experience since its so interesting :)
Well if you're trying to get down the technical definition of what meditation is and isn't, then maybe you'll think what I do isn't meditation either.
But I'll tell you this its not hypnosis.
And if its neither, but "meditation"...
Meditation has changed my life for the better and continues to do so on a daily basis.
And you bet this rolls over into business.
To put it VERY broadly...mediation "sharpens the axe"...and YOU are the axe. And when you're improved, everything you do will be improved: your life, friendships...
Got it, thanks for that @AgainstAllOdds !
Any credible resources you could point me to that say this (so if he tries to say differently then I have proof)? In my research I haven't yet found something specifying this.
yes from what I've been seeing in the various articles I've been reading, I believe a multiple of around 3.8x would be fair.
the next question I would want to answer, is what do I use to multiply it?
yes, yearly profit, I agree on that.
but how do we calculate yearly profit...
Thanks @amp0193 , yea this is going to be a weird one to find someone with specialty knowledge for valuation...too many gray areas & blurred lines between our biz and his personal brand... its the main reason why I want to get out.
