on the Road to 100k as a software developer, 5 red flags to watch out for with startups

I recently spoke with the CEO of a decently early-stage startup. He had people on his advisory board and people in his team with interesting backgrounds. One was even one of the higher-ups at Disney. He was an author who I assumed was decently accomplished, he wasn’t starving but he wasn’t JK...

Exactly how I (anualized) am on track to make 300k-400k a year with software development (and you can too)

Went from normal job to job and contracts to just contracts. Yes, it is exactly the specialized Skill you described in that video. I am working towards getting more contracts so I can hire out the work, creating my specialized unit. "Hire out the work" in my case is not a step you can just jump...

At least in my industry / niche, w2 usually means all equipment is paid for but I agree. 1099 is the way to go for expenses.

For me its really that first bit about my thoughts about money in general. I also think to avoid burn out a big part of that is continually growing which you can use all of your money to invest and grow.

Thats how its done my man! Nice work and keep up the hustle. Once you land big name clients it makes it a lot easier to demand higher rates.

It is totally possible. Now to achieve this high of a rate I have only seen that in the united states. But the principal still stands.

So this is one I really wanted to outline and get out of the way for all of the folks that are wondering exactly how I do this. There is no magic or secret sauce here. I frequently put in 80 hour plus weeks of work. And this work isn’t exactly the most mind-numbing thing like emails or phone...

    1. So the growth doing what I am is probably capped around 300-500k in terms of pay. That is, working 80 hours a week on two high paying contracts(1099 or corp to corp). I'll go into that in my next post as well. Charging more is a short term growth, but obviously gets capped. If I want to grow...

INTRO How a broke 20 year old college dropout started making 6 figures a year with code ( and you can too )

Ill be going over my breakdown in my next post, but I do two contracts at 80 hours per week. And yes it is a great way to raise capital if you have any other projects to go start, but that would mean leaving one if not both of the contracts to pursue. I can tell you right now with confidence...

Sounds good! I'll try to be as transparent and clear as I can. Its nothing special, just working multiple contracts at a high paying rate. Its a lot of work but worth the fruits!

Thanks! Im not looking to promote anything, just want to talk through how I did it and all aspects of the process in a transparent, informative kind of way. Will be posting these once a week from now on, might post more depending on how people respond.
