I use freelancers from Africa (Kenya mostly). There is a contingent of highly educated, fluent English speakers with very little job prospects, since a bulk of the work available there is low skill manual labor that is outsourced to other countries like China. For this reason, I've been able to get excellent written content from writers who are based there... at a lower price and higher quality than from India or Pakistan. I am looking forward to hiring more freelancers from Africa, because their skill level is just as good as anyone.

For enterprising Africans, there is a big opportunity to provide services to other countries.

I'm personally bullish on Africa now that most of the Anglophone countries there have achieved some level of political stability (EDIT: typed "instability" by mistake). People were right to avoid Africa in the past due to the problems over there. Many African countries tried socialism, and (surprise) it didn't work. They tried to be self sufficient and keep the amount of foreign trade and influence low. I get why they did that: they had just been colonies of countries that siphoned the wealth out of Africa. But the law of comparative advantage is much more powerful than any ideology.

Of course, no one is more bullish on Africa than the Chinese. Many native Africans are concerned with China's growing influence over there, but it's no secret that their investment has allowed for entrepreneurship to grow.

There are barriers, though. Doing business in most African countries is more difficult than it needs to be. The legacy of socialism and deep corruption left a lot of red tape that would-be entrepreneurs need to get around somehow (usually through having the right connections and paying bribes). Foreigners cannot easily start a business in most African countries and set up shop there. Credit is not as easy to get as it is in many other countries. Tax laws aren't straightforward. Entrepreneurial solutions to serious environmental problems, all made domestically in their country. Is it the perfect solution? No, but perfect is the enemy of good. Plus, it kills multiple birds with one stone.
@The-J
What a fascinating entrepreneurship. Am from there, I was there couple months ago. She’s doing a good job. There’s a lot to be done in Kenya. There’s no even a wage management system or companies likes the US. It’s a developing country and are behind because the system is corrupted; I think the leaders don’t look at changing the county for better future. They only think of their pocket. Eventually in the future people like hear wil change the outcome of the country.

Your right foreigners can set up shops in Africans countries it Involves bribery. Te Chinese are there, crushing business to the lowest point. Also taking advantage of the system and bringing china to Africa. The tax system is crazy. Omg for example buying a Toyota landruiser will cost you upto 300k. Tax is $200k seriously and car is $100k. It’s just crazy. It’s just crazy there’s a lot to be done. There’s a lot of opportunities in Africa, but the safety is always your priority. Somebody could just get you for interfering with their business. It’s crazy world. You could also be targeted for being a foreigner in some countries doing business. But is Africa expect the unexpected.

Thank you for this Gem of a post @The-J , I couldn't agree more with what you've said. There's amazing opportunities within the african entrepreneurial ecosystem, especially when you think about inter-African trade(AfCFTA) and the possibilities of coming together as a continent, such collaboration would bring tremendous opportunities to the region.

@The-J and @Mhesh The Chinese have done it and any other foreign investors can do it. There are work arounds to it and doesnt involve bribery. I have seen foreigners who have set base here and are doing well. As well, you got to start . You will face hurdles everywhere
