I'm new member here. Just read TMF book, it's life changing.

I'd like to ask you what is the best skill to have in order to get rich (in the long term) ?

Do you think sales is the best one?

I think persistence

Sales is very important, arguably the most important, right up there with marketing. If you had no skills to start, so long as you can get eyeballs, and close them, it's a great beginning. Then, just work on that backend to meet expectations.

In my opinion:
1) What is getting rich? - Financially? Health? Relationship? Leaving a Legacy?

Regardless-any of them- some of the basic attributes would be:
1) patience
2) persistence (keep getting up when you fall down - of course with new lessons learnt)
3) build your people skills - which includes sales & communication, relationship, empathy
4) Learn to start saying NO.. so that you avoid taking too many things and not doing any well
5) More than anything "stop chasing money"... it will chase you, once you starting solving problems for people.

I think the best skill to have to get rich is the skill of getting rich.
My thoughts exactly.

I think I’ve posted a couple of different ways already in this thread.

“The skill of creating profitable businesses.”

“The skill of adding value and getting paid.”

Choose your definition and get on with it?

Well, it’s true by definition, which some could say isn’t helpful.

I just can’t help thinking folks over-complicate things though.

If you want to get better at reading, read more?

If it want to get better at writing, write more?

If you want to get better at building eCom businesses, build eCom businesses more?

If you want to get better at getting rich, then ... ?

True, when people ask this question, they're usually looking for something clear cut like "Do X habit/learn Y skill and you're guaranteed riches".

That's why rich people's daily habits, mindsets and routines are always analyzed and aspiring entrepreneurs start reading books because they've heard that's something rich people have in common even if they've never touched a book in 5-10 years.

That's the second time you have said it here. The ideas thread I bumped earlier was the first time, if I can remember. :)

One question: In your opinion, @Kak, what's the difference between a leader and a manager? Or to an extent, does the leader manage some things as well?

I am currently leading a few groups for groups presentations in my current university classes (which can be another thread of extreme frustrations), and I found myself torn in between....

"The main difference between leaders and managers is that leaders have people follow them while managers have people who work for them. A successful business owner needs to be both a strong leader and manager to get their team on board to follow them towards their vision of success."-www.go2hr.ca

I think persistence is key.

Persistence to learn, to improve, to sell more, to (insert goal here). Unless you get lucky, success means hard work through tough times.

In the face of adversity, the rich keep going, the poor give up.

I think @lowtek is joking. He’s creating hardcore courses in AI, and also seems to have taken it upon himself to welcome all the new members.

Unfortunately, there are some that wouldn’t be joking...

Yup, just a joke :)

Perhaps your sarcasm meter is broken? :D
I've met a few silly fellows that think that way. They tend to be "flash-in-the-pan" players. Glad you're not one of them.

Probably copywriting/marketing/sales.

Really, just the ability to influence people. If you can communicate well to people you can do many things across many situations, not only business.
