Ive been browsing this forum for some time now, became a member 2 weeks ago or so. Ive been soaking in everything on this forum whether I'm at college, at work, or at home reading and learning until 2 a.m. every night . I work at a gym , which is an okay job at the moment pays good and its flexible. Anyway recently this older gentlemen came out running out me screaming(yes, screaming at me ) because his locker was not cooperating with him and was blaming it on me. I was puzzled since this guy was a normal great guy, making 6 digits, and for the most part was always smiling and laughing ,cracking jokes and so on. So I did my job fixed the problem and instead of saying sorry for the trouble and the normal "have a nice day" routine, I decided to talk to this gentleman. I said "what wrong Matt you have trouble with the wife?" He stared at me, shook his head and told me this.
"Ive been working at blahblah company for years now and i just cant take it kid, my whole life i listened to my parents growing up, went to great university for my time and got a great stable job. I told my self everything was going to be alright, and as the years past... It never did."
He then went on to tell me that he was tired of his job and actually got laid off that day(His excuse for why he so called lost it and acted as a toddler). I tell you this story because after this moment I told myself this will not be me, no matter what I am going to enjoy my life and lead life and not let life lead me. I told you this story because I want to be able to look back on this thread, on that day when everything changed for me. Right now I am going to go into Ecommerce and start doing the Hard/easy way that is talked about in this thread . I am going to find a product that is lacking value, listen to the market and add value that turns their wants, into needs. Turn a product, into a brand. Im not going to do what i love but rather, love what i do. Like i said before though i am still in the process of finding a good product i will keep you all updated when i have found one and what my plan of action will be .

I've worked with older people ( I'm 25 ) and it's crazy to see people 40+ that do very hard work. Doing construction now.... There's a ton of amazing threads on ecommerce here, you are in the right place! One person I've encountered was a turning 64 year old sticking cement up 3 stories high in the sun.... My one supervisor mentioned my job is a great trade to be in, ( be like a 64 year old making less than 20 bucks?) ahh.... Thanks for the current job but I'd rather jump from a cliff than do this for 4 decades! / rant

So after of looking and LISTENING to the markets needs, I put together a list of products that I can easily add value too. Have had many but brought the list down to about 3. And I was looking at all these for a little over a week. Im now gonna gonna learn more about importing and alibaba so I know what I am dealing with.
The only thing that was holding me back, was how am I suppose to fund this.

Last week I was in the rut, called my friend who has been mentoring me about all this, and told me that I needed to dump my car. I have a Lease and like MJ said in his book I was biting off more than can chew. I regret it and I can not dump it yet but I told myself if i really wanted this I had to take ACTION. I listed multiple things on ebay that I could sell made around 120$ extra and because I just moved my family was about to get rid of these bed sets, I asked them if I could sell them. They said as long as I had buyers for both (twin sets), by Friday I could sell them but I would have to take them apart pack em and all that. I did found both sellers made $400 on one and on the other i'm delivering next week we agreed on $350.

Sorry for rumbling on but the point is the past year I have been complaining about work and all this time if I would just put some work into it I could have easily had some flip money. I am really glad to be progressing and once I figure out which product I go with I will order a sample and let you know how it goes. Thanks

Let's see, where will I be this time next year. . . . .

Well for starters, I'll be in California, I know because a month from now I'll be moving down (across) there, Nov. 30th. There's more opportunity and growth of business than here in Florida. Yes, moving with my family around the Palo Alto area (Silicon Valley baby!!). I have no choice but to succeed so my wife can get her online business up and running and God, if it's in His will, can open doors to new opportunities. There's only one thing holding me here in FL and many reasons to go to Cali. Yes, I will no longer be a Floridian anymore and trading it for Nappa Valley, Hollywood wanna-be actors and techies, so don't be suprised when I change my residence location on my avatar.

I disagree that moving to California will help a fledgling business. IMO moving to a place where the cost of living is low is far more advantageous than being near Silicon Valley.

I work as an aircraft engineer and all of the older engineers (50 years +) are so miserable and hate their jobs. They always talk about how they wish they had done something different and how tired they are. Most of them are even having to continue working and not retire so that they can continue to afford their current lifestyles. It makes me sad to think that someone could let themselves get like that, but shit, it's a good motivator for me!

Good luck with your journey, keep us updated!

No, I need to be a little more specific. . . . first I'm moving to Califorinia for several reasons: jobs, business ventures, an new beginning on things personally. Then after I get my family financially stable only then I can move on to being an entrepreneuer. It's a little more tougher when you have a family to take care of first. There's nothing here in Florida and I'm tired of working 2 jobs just to keep food on the table and a roof over our heads. Me and my wife agree that things will get a little better once we're there.

Before you order anything on Alibaba I suggest you have a good look at my AMA: GOLD Sharing my lifetime experience in export/import. Product sourcing specialist. I wouldn't like to see you get burnt at this stage.

Regards,
Walter.
