There are good arguments for both outcomes. My money is for mayweather by KO probably after the 8rd mark.

The day a MMA fighter magically teleports to the ring and locks in a Scorpion Death-lock is the day I start watching MMA more intently.

I have a strange feeling Conor is going to win (fixed) and Vegas is going to cash out HARD, Floyd gets paid out tens of millions on the side. Weird prediction of mine.

If McGregor wins, Vegas books would actually lose a lot of money.

People thinking McGregor has a chance keep thinking of the possibility of him catching Mayweather with a punch, but I think their concern should be that HE will get caught over and over and over, until his corner throws in the towel to avoid brain damage for their cash cow.

Once the lactic acid starts burning your shoulders and arms it's very hard to keep them up, especially when you keep getting tagged in the belly. McGregor is in for a very tough night, unless Mayweather humanely decides to take him out early. I really like the guy, and personalities like his come around once in a blue moon, but the reflexes are night and day. Watching the Mayweather workout should put that whole "40 years old" nonsense to rest.

Back in June, I thought this fight will be a shit show - Mayweather will just hit Conor a few times, then run away, reset, hit him again a few times, run away, etc... I figured Mayweather will just use his speed (both feet and hands) to avoid getting hit.

But the outside chance for McGregor has always been that if he brawls with Mayweather. If Conor can get inside, dip the shoulders into him, lean on him and make Floyd fight hard on the inside, then there's a chance.

If McGregor can use that kind of rough housing strategy to take the first couple rounds and insert some doubt into Mayweather's mind, then maybe Floyd starts coming forward. If Mayweather starts walking into McGregor, I'm pretty confident McGregor can knock him out with one clean hit.

I just have this inkling that McGregor is going to pull off the upset.

But I'd never pay to watch it.

I work in a sportsbook(for now...)
The odds months ago was McGregor+2000
That was before the world tour....now Connor only is +350 ! (Not really even worth it to get on Conner...+2000 though was juicy if u got that line)

It's crazy to watch McGregor at the start of his career to where he is now. His will to succeed and belief in himself is unmatched. It's remarkable.
His skill on the Mic are just as impressive as his skills in the fight game. So entertaining.true showman. He sells fights.

I never though he would have a chance against mayweather...but how can you not visualize McGregor pulling off this upset? Its too perfect to add to his fairy tale rags to riches story.
I can just see it happening.
If McGregor wins it will be within first 5 rnds I think and by ko.
Mayweather wins...decision.
Regardless should be a fun fight to watch.

I want McGregor to win and I actually believe that he can. His philosophy and outlook on life are admirable and I think that because of the unorthodox way he will approach Mayweather - there could be trouble.

People saying that there is no chance are being disingenuous. This is a fight. Mayweather can get caught and he has before. He's facing something he has never faced before. The fact is that we don't know what will happen, but Conor is not new to boxing by any means, so discounting him completely when he is in his physical prime, has very real knockout power, and is boxing a much older Floyd - is a bit too shallow.

Conor McGregor's approach to life and fighting (his mental process) has a stoic nature. Whether or not he knows it, he practices a similar philosophy as many other high performers.

As to who will win, like many others have already said, it doesn't matter. The event will happen as it ought and those who chose to walk away winner will walk away a winner.

They are fighting with 8oz gloves now instead of 10oz!
thenotoriousmma I am very pleased with the Nevada State Athletic Commission's handling of my next bout today. Fair play was kept all the way through. Referee - Hall of famer Robert Byrd. Judges - Burt Clements. Dave Morreti and Guido Cavalerri. 8oz gloves approved. With pre and post fight analysis of the gloves on the night. This was handled very well and very fairly by the NSAC. I am very pleased and respect the Commissions ruling on this. 10 days until fight time.

I really like Conor McGregor, but I feel he's way over his head with this.

He's up against the greatest defensive boxer that's ever lived- and Conor is best at counterpunching, so he'll struggle with him.

If Conor was so good at boxing, he would have become a pro at that because he started off doing that before moving to UFC.

The whole punching power thing is completely different when you're up against people that dedicate their life to learning the art of punching. Mayweather knows how to roll with the punches and take out most of the power- Which UFC fighters haven't mastered to the same degree. On top of that the gloves are bigger in boxing, so again, less power.

Plus, the standard of the UFC in general won't be as good as boxing because that's been mainstream for longer, therefore more people do it and the quality would have raised. It will catch up now that it's mainstream now though- It's just going to take a few years for the kids watching it now to grow up.

I don't think it will be a walk over though because that's not Floyd's style. I think he'll hold back and be his usual defensive self in the first few rounds. Then I reckon he'll get him by TKO/KO in the 8/9th round after he's sussed McGregor out.

I want to be able to see how Conor could win, but I just can't see it!

the truth is Mayweather would never do this fight if he could loose, his record is 49 - 0, do you think really he would risk his legend status? also he need the 1 win to make him a legacy over Rocky Marciano who quit his boxing career with 49 - 0,

Could you imagine they got a silent arrangement, i mean its an half billion dollar fight? McGregor could retire after this, also loosing this fight people would never blame him because its not his "sport" he is an MMA fighter. Nobody can loose here, except people who paying here a lot of money to see this or betting really high.

Dont get me wrong iam a box fan and i love martial arts, just thoughts !!

Mayweather hasnt fought in 2 years and he's 40 years old. Even the untouchable best of the best like Anderson Silva, there comes a time when you just stop being as good as you were.

If you're almost 40 or over, you know how big of a difference it is than when you were 29.

Watching the Mayweather workout should put that whole "40 years old" nonsense to rest.

The "whole 40 years old thing" is valid - father time is undefeated. And the more you depend on speed and reflexes, the faster you decline. There's an order of magnitude between 36 and 40 years old in sports. (Jordan went from the best basketball player on the planet at 36 to middle of the pack at 40 (arguably below average, if you gave a bench player the same minutes and possessions). Boxers are different (more so with heavyweights) and there are exceptions, but it's a real factor.

Either way, like everything else, it won't go the way most think it will and the things that are hard to measure become the most important.

Connor is younger, bigger, stronger, and possibly faster at fight time. But more importantly
* He's poorer.
* He may be hungrier to leave the UFC than Mayweather is to not be 49-1.
* He has a family. He has everything to gain, and nothing to lose. In fact, he's already won if he finishes the fight, because then he can box someone else for 40MM.
* He's clearly a braggart, but he's shown to be humble in defeat and victory. A loudmouth who knows he's still learning is dangerous.
* I've seen a few people 100% sure Mayweather will win.
* I've seen those same people making fun of those saying McGregor could win. I've learned not to patronize less sophisticated folks just because I want to seem smart. I'd rather be right.

Lastly: past performance is not indicative of future results.

My no-skin-in-the-game prediction: It'll be a complete shit show. McGregor will KO Mayweather.

I'm still amazed that Conor beat Nate in their 2nd fight. It should have been a repeat of their first. How did Conor beat a guy that was taller, stronger, longer reach, better grappler, better boxer, and who had better cardio? On paper, Nate beat him in every measurable way.

In the 2nd fight, Conor conserved his energy, but used just enough to win the first two rounds through high-precision punches, then he gave up 2 rounds to Nate, then poured it on in the 5th, to win 3 of the 5 rounds. He won by navigating a path where there was zero room for error, but led to a split-decision victory.

If Conor had tried to win the first 3 rounds, he would of been too gassed to defend in the last 2. If he had given up the first two rounds, he might have been too damaged to win the last 3. I think this is John Kavangh's work. Like when Greg Jackson and Mike Winkeljohn come up with plans for their fighters (ex: Jardine def Liddell).

I don't know who Mayweather's strategist is, I assume he has one. If he got to 49-0 based entirely on hard work and natural talent, everyone one could be in for a big shock on Saturday.

Breaking Bad ended it's run after 5 Seasons, at the height of it's popularity. It did not wander in the later seasons like Happy Days or Dexter. Why did they end it, when they could have milked it for at least another 3 seasons? To get a TV show green-lit, you have to be reasonably sure it will last 5 seasons. The first two usually break-even, but the next three usually make a lot of money. When they wrote Breaking Bad, they designed the entire run of the show in the beginning. They knew Season 5 would be the last one, while they were writing Season 1. They had all 5 seasons planned out - that's why it was so good. If they had made it up as they went along, it probably would have sucked. Their approach was to see the entire 5 Season run as one story. I expect Conor's team to have this fight similarly mapped out. It will be Conor's job to force Mayweather to follow their script. They did it to Nate, maybe they will be able to do it again.

Not taking bets anymore. Here's my original post:

Let's make things a tiny bit more fun.

I'll put up to 10,000 forum dollars at 4-1 odds on Mayweather. If anyone wants to bet on McGregor, then just reply to my post with the amount you want to wager.

For example, if you want to bet 100 forum dollars, then reply. If you win, you get 400 forum dollars from me. If I win, you transfer 100 my way.

@Mods - I'm hoping this is fine since it's fictional money. If not, then please delete my post.

Here's who placed forum money bets on McGregor:

@Fox for $250.
@loop101 for $1,000. Paid upfront.
@JordanK for $500. Paid upfront.
@Ninjakid for $1,000.
@Locomote for $250. Paid upfront.
@UnrealCreative for $500. Paid upfront.

My bankroll left: $0 forum dollars. I'm all cashed out and can't take anymore bets. I have an exposure of $14,000 forum dollars on this fight. Let's hope for an exciting fight.

You forgot the fact that he put Nate on his a$$ 3 times during that fight (that i recall).

I believe Conor can win, I believe it as much as he does. It will be just like the election. 1% chance to win? I THRIVE on that 1%.

Mayweather is the best defensive boxer, hes a counter puncher, hes 49-0, he's amazing at dodging punches. Yeah. I got it.

Conor is powerful, he is precise, he has, what i believe, is the best timing and accuracy of anyone i've ever seen fight.

If someone out there REALLY believes Mayweather is going to win...i would ask you to look at the odds. Conor has better odds to win than Canelo did against MW.

This will be a historic fight. I've followed Conor for 2 years now and have become addicted to that self belief he has. That belief in himself that regular people scoff at. They write it off as "cockiness", they think hes putting on a show. I can ASSURE you its not for show. Everyone will find out Saturday...Conor can and will win. Respect to MW but he has no clue what hes up against...

Whatever the outcome, it's a win-win for McGregor. He has absolutely nothing to lose because he is supposed to lose. Imagine losing and getting millions to do so. Mayweather must owe a shit-ton of taxes.
