I usually wake up at 6 a.m. every day. as soon as i leave my bed, i eat my breakfast and then i get ready to go to work.
I always try to get to work before 8 a.m. even though I'm self-employed.

With a family, nighttime routines change daily so my alarm goes on 8 hours from bedtime.

I jot down a to-do list each night for the next day, based on my weekend overviews for the week.

In the morning I’ll do these:
  • Have a 16 oz glass of water, then hot tea (usually Matcha or Pu’erh tea; coffee for weekends).
  • Surya Namaskar (the sun salutation yoga sequence, which re-energized my flexibility like nothing else has)
  • Wake up youngest for school.
  • Go through my to-do list for the day.
  • Yell at youngest as she is getting late.
  • Work for at least 30 min on my Fastlane personal business.
  • Try not to screech at youngest for being late for school again.
  • Deep breathing

If there is time before the day job, then journaling.

If not, it’s straight into the day job.

In between work emails or waiting for responses, I’ll:
  • Meditate
  • Listen to motivational audios
(Workouts are around lunch)

I invented a little ritual that seems to work for me. I keep it in my back pocket for days when I need it.

I take a hot shower and start smiling even though I don’t feel happy. I don’t try to think happy thoughts, I just do the facial expression. After a few minutes, I generally start feeling genuinely happy. Then I slowly turn the water cold. I don’t do a cold shower, just cold enough to get a kick. It reminds me that it feels great to be alive.

Far from ideal my current routine, but:

Wake up around 6:30am
Go through To-Do lists for the day whilst having 2 cups of coffee
Respond to emails/messages etc / read book or F*ck around online
Take dog out for a walk around 8am (usually 4-6miles)
Come back / breakfast
Leave for the gym (weights)

Then work from 2pm-10pm

I don't wake up so early for the sake of *the hustle.* I wake up this early because I'm a vampire.

But seriously... if I don't wake up so early, I won't have enough time to write or go for a walk before my daughter wakes up. Once she's awake, it's hard to concentrate on writing. Plus, I don't like to go for a walk in the daylight because... vampire.
Nearly like my son. Vampire, too.

Depends on what’s coming.
When my wife is at home, we have coffee while laying patience cards. When possible since 25 years. Thats the main ritual.

When I wake up alone, coffee and sitting anywhere, thinking about the problems, dreams or whatever.
Than start either working, or gym, or sports.
But for working, I mostly like a quick start: I make coffee, take it into the car and enjoy driving while drinking or drinking while driving to the next customer.

What abouttime: mostly make up at about 7 to 8 am. I don’t like alarms. Had the kids for that, when they were small ;)

Thanks for all the responses guys. It's been a pleasure reading them. I am self made and live a busy life with a few businesses and a number of investments some involving time from me, and others more passive.

My morning routine:

5:00am I am up. Drink 700ml of water. 5:30am stretching. 6:00am I workout at F45. Come home, drink another 700ml of water and then slowly go over my to-do list for the day, setup prior days.

8:30am Breakfast

9:30am I'm working

I've been using a moleskine for years and one habit I love is when I'm flying I take time to review it and plan ahead. When I have to fly it's always first thing in the morning.

I have a hard time getting to sleep early however. My wife is a bit of a night owl. I would like to hit the bed at 10pm, but most nights it's 10:30pm. Realistically I should be sleeping by 9:00pm.

If you listen to the gurus, you'll spend so much time preparing to be productive that you'll never get around to actually being productive

I plan my day the night before. I wake up, take a 10-15 minute walk to get my brain working, then coffee and get to work on whatever creative task needs to be done, usually whatever I'm composing. I set my alarm for 8am, but usually get up around 6-7am.

By focussing on measurable productive work first thing, I'm getting a ton of music written and practice done.

I wake up when my 3-year old son decides to wake me up.
Remember how much I hated working for the man.
Get to work.

My most productive days actually begin the night before. I tend to experience clarity before sleeping re: what I want to do the next day, so I write down 2-8 bullet points. They might be task-specific 'todos', but they could also be things to contemplate, a principle to keep in mind, anything that directly or indirectly moves me toward my goals.
This seems like a really good idea. I often set myself a todo list at night and usually it gets done, but when there’s still something not ticked off it can affect me a little bit.

I feel like if I can write down something like ‘How would you spend your time in 5/10 years time’ on my todo list, I can tick it off if I feel as if my time was spent wisely throughout the day.

Maybe this is too much of an abstract goal and won’t yield any satisfaction or consistency but I’ll try it and keep updating :)

My sleep schedule lately could only be described as "Tyler Durden"

4, 5, or 6 am wake up.

The last year has been interesting (in the long-term relationship). I like to get up and get going. She loves to lay around. So we compromised... and we lay around. Usually, that means about 15 minutes of Instagram reels with some sort of cute animals in them.

Then I do my "roadwork" -- running or walking for an hour (depending on how hot it is already).

From there it's simple.

3 things/people that are waiting on me
3 things/people that I am waiting on

follow-ups, content, videos, etc.

If contemplation is all you can get done, best to do it—it’s better than doomscrolling reddit, hey?

If this is the case, I recommend contemplating to such an extent that you either—
a) become a monk, or
b) graduate to task-oriented todos!

Now becoming a monk seems interesting

I'm not saying these things don't have value, of course they do. I just think they might offer an unrealistic insight into the day of an actual 'coffee and diesel' entrepreneur (non social media/online guru guy). The most successful guys I know wake up, grab a coffee, and get straight to their work desk.
I have to disagree. There is a lot of things who can be benifital to you and indirectly to your goal. For example I have ADHD. I have a fixed morning routine to get started. This also helps till my medication kicks in. Bevore Corona my routine was waking up, 30min jogging, showering , 10 min meditation and breakfast. At this time I had no medication and it helped me a lot. Yes it cost me a lot of time (around 1h30) but I also was able to work 2h focused.

The biggest problem for me there is when this routine is broken by something. My day is so much more unproductive then. I don't know if this is an ADHD thing or just a general thing.

But also, Health is very important for example. I am trying to up my sports to atleast 2 to 3 times a week gym and 2 to 3 times cardio on a bike. Yes, it costs a lot of time but it improves my health and mood. The thing is, this improvement in health and mood also makes me more productive. In addition, I spend a lot more time on thinking about what to eat and the preparation. It such a big difference when I just eat 6 bake-on crossiants with cholocate or my current lunch of tomato, egg, bread, cheese, some pice of fruit and protein shake.

It seems nice to have no distractions or possessions. Obviously a massive sacrifice must happen but it seems like a pure way of living.
Nothing like a bit of experimentation to see if it's for you. Intermittent fasting, meditation, staying on top of chores (boy do monks have a lot of chores...)

6 am out of bed, go to gym
7 am take the dog for a walk then meditate 5 minutes or just play with the dog in the backyard: same effect
8 am - 10 am mess around on email/ Instagram/ news
10 am - 5pm actually work
