This will take a while and I will probably come back to this over time and complete my long story.

I am the wrong side of 40, with decades of experience in telecoms and software development. I have dabbled with the internet since 1995 and have a good living. I have travelled the world with my job but it is a job and I detest the daily commuting grind and the office politics. I have been around for too long to get excited about it anymore and hate being woken up by an alarm clock to put in a 14 hour day (including a 3 hour commute).

I read 'the millionaire fastlane' a couple of years ago and to be honest I was pretty sceptical about the whole premise of the book. I didn't want a car (I have one, a six year old Honda and it works fine) and my initial thought were, 'here we go. Yet another guru scam and I bet he is overcompensating for something with his cars'.

However, once I had peeled back my prejudices and a total lack of anything mechanical, the second half of the book called out to me. I get CENTS totally but the bit that struck me was how we are accountable for our actions, behaviours, our responsibilities and also how these can drive the outcomes.

I left the book on my kindle and then deleted it along with another 150 - 200 or so and kept waking up to the alarm clock and developing a critical dependancy on strong coffee in the morning to function (along with a beard because it meant I had another 2 minutes in bed each morning).

To cut a long story short I have given myself 3 months to launch a software product. I have built the core product (and it works) and am now building out the marketing and support features.

The problem I have is that my idea of sales is 'take it or leave it' but the advantage of swallowing corporate bullshit everyday is that focussing on an end goal of dictating my life on my terms means that I have suddenly become much better at dealing with corporate bullshit and acknowledging what I am crap at and dealing with it.

This is very much a work in progress and may be quite a ride. I have also set myself a goal of laughing a SAAS product in April and having 30 paying customers at the end of the month.

Wish me luck.

ps I bought the book a second time and spent hours going through it in depth. More fool me!
