Could someone please explain why stuff like this works?

Whenever I see a page like that, I immediately click away. It smells like clickbait, bullshit, scam and whatever. I would never ever think about following the CTA. I can also not think of anyone I know, who would do so.

So who clicks on those pages?

15% of the population has an IQ 85 or lower.

This is not meant to diminish their value as humans, rather it is meant to give insight into what we are working with. 15% of the population is fundamentally handicapped and incapable of the degree of critical thought required to realize they're being sold to, particularly by folks with "flexible ethics".

Why am I so harsh?
You take pictures of cars, houses and experiences. You then sell courses, selling the dream.
To justify your claims, you buy followers and comments on Instagram
= Bottom feeder.

There is no course mate. Sorry to disappoint you.

I ain't selling the dream. I am living it.

This is not a dream. It's my reality.

I am sorry if that aggravates you.

No, not covered. And he hasn't explained it either.

I had put it there 1-2 years ago after my Fiverr thread. Not featured but "seen on".

Don't worry, it's removed.

Confirmation bias is running rampant in this thread. Herd mentality too.

A couple of established members called me out for supposedly trying to sell you stuff, although I wasn't selling anything.

Everybody jumped into to support this (herd mentality).

Then, you all looked for whatever clues proved your preexisting action and behavior correct, ignoring everything else (confirmation bias).

This is how immune everyone here is to those bias you say you are too smart to become victims of.

It's saddening.

To see how caught up all you are in the anti-guru mentality, that it almost blinds you.

You might have been scammed by "gurus" and want to protect this community from falling victims of people with unethical intentions. Okay.

It's disappointing to see such high levels of suspicion, lack of critical judgement and confirmation bias ruling over your responses.

Damn, I guess I had the wrong impression about this place.

Anyway, keep doing you, I will keep doing me and everyone can be happy with their lives.

Honestly, I still find it extremely insulting that you think that we are too dumb to no see through your BS.
You sell courses... Ok, you might not call them courses but either way, you sell information.
Why deny it!

I never have an issue with people selling information, there are many members on here that I would quite happily part my cash with. However, what I have a problem with is people selling information to gullible people who probably wouldn't know what to do with your information anyway.

Im done with this thread now, I got my own stuff to do.

Peace brother... I hope it finds you.

"Well since I can no longer promote myself here without actually having people check my BS I am going to leave."

I actually didn't mind if you were selling courses or not. I just thought your advice sucked.

- You personally aren't using the approach that you are promoting.
- Others things that you are promoting you haven't been able to do yourself (one example is the blue tick).
- You haven't come clean on using clearly fake comments and inflated likes.
- You didn't answer dozens of concerns about yourself and your intention with this thread.
- Your language is way too too much hype and very little substance.

I dont care if you are living the dream or not. I hope you are. But everyone logs on to this forum so they can get real advice from people with personal experience on that topic.

You are sharing generic BS anyone could find on a quick google search, hyping it to the max, making people beg for more nonsense, and then running off at the first bit of scrutiny.

Add in your own copywriting, self marketing image, media mentions etc and it just seems like a load of nonsense. Would you let someone post like this within your own FB group? Is this the style of communication you would want all your members to use? I am guessing not.

Lame thread with even lamer exit.

I wonder if GC actually means: "Dude, stop acting you're the man with only $100k/month."

All OP's videos made me cringe big time.

I have an idea:

Why don't we give him a chance to explain himself in an INSIDERS call together with @SinisterLex @Fox and @MJ DeMarco ?

As much as I don’t really like Grant Cardone that much as a person, I think he’s pretty switched on when it comes to bullshit and I have a feeling he was trying to gauge OPs reaction to see if he was the real deal.

Yeah I too watched his videos and they are almost as cringey as his Instagram. His website is even worse.

I think he’s been exposed and until he proves otherwise, everyone will greet his claims with a nice fistful of salt.

I wonder if GC actually means: "Dude, stop acting you're the man with only $100k/month." All OP's videos made me cringe big time.

I just watched his youtube videos and read some of his twitter content.
A common "theme" in his videos is to get his target market (seems to be impressionable young males) to quit and avoid college altogether >>>>> join his FB group >>>>> .......the rest of the upsells.........

I could be wrong but this is the message I'm getting.

The whole "drop college" thing is similar to what MJ wrote in Unscripted , where college will land you in big debts and 9-5 cubicle hell for the rest of eternity.
The difference is that MJ opens up the reader's eyes to an alternative road we can go in life, and there is actual value, as demonstrated in the books and forum. You don't have to join an "exclusive FB group" to get access to all these info. I'm also happy there's talk of ethics and integrity in the forum here instead of the "make $$$ at all costs".
If I've to summarize MJ's teachings in one line, it would be "Provide Value & make CENTS".

On the other hand, OP's "drop college" theme is telling guys that college is uncool and bad, and you should join HIM, because he's living this wonderful life, as implied in his videos, where he has girls with him, goes to parties all day, fly on helicopters, exotic cars, expensive watches, eat at expensive restaurants, penthouses, watching the cityscape in his downtown office, dressed in expensive suits and well-groomed, travel the world, tons of swag, .......
(to be honest, I feel his videos are 20x more flamboyant than Tai Lopez's)

It gives the impression that by quitting college and following him (and learn fluff from him), you'll have this same kind of lifestyle. Very bad example to show to aspiring entrepreneurs.

Why don't we give him a chance to explain himself in an INSIDERS call together with @SinisterLex @Fox and @MJ DeMarco ?

That's abuse right there. It's like putting a cat into a cage with 3 barbary lions.
Now that I think about it, I feel even Andrew provided WAY more value compared to OP.

Damn, I guess I had the wrong impression about this place.

You certainly did!

You thought you could sell a course to people on a site who are well aware of the typical course-selling tactics. Your username should be "Window", because we can see right through you.

I think what you had the wrong impression about, was yourself.

And here we are, almost 200 posts later, and you've STILL not left us with any real value. (@Xeon called it on page 1!)

All OP's videos made me cringe big time.

Ugh!! I KNOW!!!

You see, I'm actually someone can say good things about the OP. I've been following the guy before his Dubai penthouse trip. And in that time the OP has provided genuine value to others.

But this bro-marketing bullshit is the worse! When he announced that he was going to make Youtube videos, I was excited since I expected him to get in front of a camera and speak. But instead he makes these ridiculous music videos.

I don't know why he's gotten into bro marketing instead of being low-key and genuine. I hope that this doesn't turn into a dark path, because I truly feel like he is a decent guy.... for now at least.

gotta love grant's mindblowing advice in that video;

"increase revenue and decrease margins"

"make moves or make excuses"

Grant Cardone's sheep would soak in anything he says, even if it's generic fluff you see on google and books everywhere.

Maybe just because I am tired after a 13hr work day, but I feel like I lost a few brain cells after watching that GC video and some of the other videos on that YouTube channel.
If you want to sell stuff then own it and sell away! As long as there is value then people will buy and all can be happy. I do find your site a bit odd though to guarantee me $30k a month (if I recall correct), and how to be successful, and how to get a ripped body... What are you selling?? Business plan? Mindset and motivation? Workout plan? Diet plan? Travel plan?

Hehe, this thread makes me chuckle. The kid is 20, he just needs to be slapped around a bit by life, and unfollow some of the nonsense. (#ohhaivictor)

However the narcissism is so strong on this one, that probably calls for a 2x4 upside the head I don't know. (I wish I had half as much, I'd be a pentamillonaire by now... but I like sleeping well at night, and actually helping people feels better than having extra dollars on my statement. ;) )

The lesson here for everyone else, is instead of "hey look at me," you know the rest...

Disclaimer - I HAVE thought about buying a lambo to use for marketing just to see what would happen, they're cheap to lease! :hilarious:

You could make music videos about your lifestyle too.

I wonder if MJ DeMarco could show off his lifestyle? He made videos many years ago, but it was him talking straight to the camera from inside a nice house. He mentioned in his book that he has nice cars.

Maybe @Fox could have interesting footage from all his travels.

Ill share a little more on what I know...

So when looking at social media it is very tempting to want to compare the total numbers. One page with a 1,000,000 followers might look way stronger than another page with 30,000 but that definitely is not the case.

As I mentioned earlier there are two main types of pages created by people who hack Instagram:
Large "viral" traffic style pages and personal/business brand pages.

Sometimes these can be a little blurry - someone who posts 10 viral style pics to every 1 personal or business pics. But for the most part they are set up one way or the other.

Mindset of the user

Instagram users for the most part have two main browsing styles >
1) checking in and connecting with people they actually are emotionally invested in.
This could be a friend, family member, their favorite sportsperson, a brand they are passionate about. This is where you want to be. A page they check cause they are actually invested in it.

2) the second is "scrolling" pages (or viral pages as I have called them before).
These are pages that are giving them a micro dopamine hit for dozens of reasons. Basically it feels good to use a page like this. Depending on the person this could be 1000s of different things:
- Motivational quotes
- Pics of cool cars
- Hot girls/guys
- Puppies
- Funny university videos
- Sports highlights
- Memes

It will depend on the person but its generally just stuff to browse that makes us feel good.

Now let's go over a big thing to keep in mind: loyalty and connection.

The first type of connection above is really hard to create but once you get people on board its very easy to monitize. People are draw into your brand and they feel this is right for them. You got them invested so its just a case of letting them know every so often that X is for sale and to "swipe up".

Depending on the brand this might be a very slow burn approach or more regular. Some brands (in particular clothing) will nearly make sales out of every post while someone in the fitness niche might only try promote a plan every 4/5 posts. It will depend on marketing style and market.

BUT this is only thinking in one dimension - making money ON the app.

When Instagram is used not as a checkout but as social proof you open the field up to 100s of other options...

Let's say you are searching on google how your favorite actor got in shape for that last Superhero movie you seen a week ago. You do a search and up pops a great article about how they used X workout and how you can too. You read a few more articles on this blog and its really starting to look not too hard to get similar results yourself. Damn there is an ebook also! BUT who is this guy?...

>>> Enter link to their Instagram <<<

WOW. This guy has a ton of followers and is in amazing shape. And he is doing cool stuff all the time and has an amazing lifestyle.

Now when this happens Instagram helps in 2 massive ways...

- You buy right away cause the Instagram page sold you on all that instant social proof
- You don't buy right away but you follow the person in the meantime. Then next Tuesday when you are sitting on the couch regretting all that icecream you just ate and up pops jimmy-6-pack on your Instagram you remember the ebook (or he tells you directly) and you decide now is the time to buy! Basically he caught you at the exact right time for you to take action and buy.

So Instagram is in many ways the new email list: Get people on board, sell them slowly (or fast) over time on what you have to offer, and hopefully one day your offer and their emotional state line up and give you a sale.

Let's go back to the big viral pages...

These pages are really easy to pump full of huge numbers. If you have good content you can build them quite fast. If you have a network of already big pages you can build them in a few weeks. Remember OPs 100,000 in a week claim > this is that.

Let's say you already own (or can connect with) several big pages on a niche interest. For example a page on lambos, another on watches, one more on mens style, and one more on mens fitness. Now lets say you want to create a new page on... mens travel accessories. This will be so easy to get huge in no time. All these other pages run content that links the two (lambo pic with cool travel suitcase > check out the new page @travelinstyle ).

But again you have to keep in mind the concept of loyalty and connection.
With these big pages there is next to none. They just want some micro dopamine hits and it didn't matter if it was your viral page or 1000s of others nearly the exact same.

This is very similar to going on to YouTube and watching a "top ten crazy stunts" viral video > you might watch all ten minutes of this but you have zero emotional connection with whoever runs this page. Its just fun easy content.

So the large viral pages are used to whip up a ton of followers that can be used in a lot of different ways. Lets look at just one today:

You can direct them to "personal" brands...
Viral fitness page > X coach
Viral Lambo page > 20 year life coach
Viral University page > vaping business
Viral travel page > new YouTube travel vlogger
and so on

Now these can be shout outs / partnerships / IG groups / or the same person owns all the pages.

But overall you are trying to turn someone who was just enjoying themselves into a connected and loyal follower into an actual paying customer. If you have ever wanted to buy anything from IG chances are you went through all these different stages without even knowing.

---

Here is a massive point and one you need to keep in mind...
Getting a 1,000,000 followers is not that hard.
Getting a 1,000,000 fans is very difficult.

But to the untrained eye they look nearly the exact same.

Again YouTube is a good comparison...
Imagine you have 1,0000,000 subscribers but all your videos are of funny cat compilations. Well done but those aren't fans of you > they just like cats. That is totally different to a vlogger who has 1,000,000 subs who follow their story in detail and have a huge emotional connection.

The thing about Instagram though is that it is kinda easy (when done right) to get some traffic to stick when going from a large viral page > "personal" brand. If you can match the image tone, style, and content of the two some people will follow along when directed to go check out a new page.

This is why every 20 year old life coach has so many lambo, travel, fitness pics.
They have to match the style and content of the big viral page that is directing traffic their way.

That is really important to keep in mind > Instagram "personal brand" pages with low actual engagement will try really hard to match the viral content that is getting the traffic in the first place. They just want some of it to stick so they can build up their personal brand.
The more it matches > the more they are hitting on that micro dopamine > the more "fans" stick around.

This is why lots of OP pics has no natural comments > they aren't there for him (no depth to engagement) > they are there for lambo and motivational micro dopamine hits.
He will get some likes, less views, and hardly any comments (Im talking naturally).

Basically the more it relies on someone stopping for more than 1/4 of a second the less likely it is to happen. Likes are the easiest to get, views second, comments last.

---

I have seen this in person with someone who runs a hack business. A normal bot promoted post would get 5,000+ likes and tons of generic comments. Without it > 200 likes and 5 comments.

For those people faking it its 80-95% inflated.

---

This was more of a guide on how to think about how IG works and understand engagement.

If you want to build your IG following I can write a bit more about that also.
Hacks can still work but they won't take you all the way. You need to know how to combine them with real content and actually make sure it sticks. Anyway hope that helps some more.

---

Extra bonus tip > to look for real engagement check out the comments. Ignore anything that looks generic or fake. Look for something that took time and effort to write. A good personal brand that is real with have somewhere from 200-2000+ plus of these on most pics. These are true fans.

ANY COMMENT like "cool pic" "amazing" "wow this is so cool" is fake.
It might be paid for, it might be from another page they own, it might be a comment engagement group > but its fake.

If they have fake comments most likely its all fake. There will be some core group that are there for real but it is only 2-10%.

AMAZING post on the dichotomy between true fans and followers looking for some cheap entertainment.

Quoting because I hope more people read it

I have a friend who uses follow/unfollow but has great engagement (~5-6%+ - hundreds of comments on posts that show that people care, etc)

The key?

Really good content.
It's not just some throwaway generic BS but is something everyone's interested in (really good travel pics - some of them really unique, too) and he writes really long captions that get people thinking/talking as well as uses tons of relevant hashtags

I'm personally in Damian's FB group from past few months.

He hasn't tried us to sell us anything (that includes coaching calls, seminars etc)

That's a fair point. Maybe he's not actively trying to sell you guys anything... And maybe you find that he's offering value...

But you've got to look at the bigger picture.

I know for a fact that he's done affiliate promotions through his email list in the past. Presumably he still is... I wouldn't know, as I unsubscribed.

Some of the stuff he promoted was quite expensive - I can't recall the name, but there was some ~$1000 amazon course in the mix there. I imagine there's a sizable affiliate cut out of that.

Besides all that...

What's the long game?

You can see the cult of personality he's trying to build with the carefully curated tweets, the instagram lifestyle positioning, associating (or trying to) with other gurus, directly and indirectly (e.g. taking pictures with them, reposting their content, etc.)

It benefits him to be able to say that he has a "super exclusive, private Facebook group for Digital Conquerers" because it allows him to position himself as an authority... And to draw in more people, to be monetised at a later date.

If he's got big ambitions, it doesn't make sense to try monetize a more modest following... Better to bide his time, build a big following, then leverage that.

His advice is this thread was generic and flimsy, as ably illustrated by @Fox and others. All he cared about was pulling more people into his web.
"Hey look - he says he knows how to get to one million followers! I should follow him and find out how!"

.....

Think about that for a minute.

Anyway, that's long enough for a phone post.
You do you - take value where you see it... but don't let a 20-something mystery millionaire(?) use your attention (or yourself in general) for his own ends.
