Hello -

Is anybody here creating online courses that sell for a premium price ($299+) ? What's been your challenges ? Was your MVP just a teaser of the course ?
I would like to hear people's experience on this topic.

Excellent. Then here's how I would proceed:

0) Find out where my target market lives and go read what they have to say. Find at least 5 places where they congregate and see what the pain points are.

1) Interact with those people to find out if that is a pain point they would pay money to solve. You need 20 "hell yes" responses. If you get those 20, proceed to step 2. If no, then go back to 0.

2) create a mock landing page around a product that solves those pain points. Email opt in to get future updates on the upcoming product.

3) Pay for some Facebook traffic to that landing page. $5 a day to start. Looking for at least 2% CTR at around $1 a click, relevance score > 5.

4) Basic experimentation around the messaging and other on page elements to maximize the email opt in rate.

5) When you get 200 emails, then it's time to make the course. If you can't get 200 emails, then you certainly aren't going to get any sales.

If you've gotten the 200 emails, then spend no more than 30 days on the course. Your first iteration isn't going to be quite right no matter how much time you spend on it, so it's best to get it out as quickly as possible to get feedback. The MVP should solve the pain point you marketed a solution for - nothing more and nothing less.

Once you get some feedback, you can modify, adapt, add, or remove content as needed. Give those that have already purchased all the new stuff for free. Get their feedback on it and continue this process.

When you've packed in more value, and gotten it dialed in, turn on the spigot for your paid advertising. Raising the price may be appropriate as well.

Please note, these steps are generic for selling anything online. Information, products, services, software as a service... it's all the same process.

There's loads of solutions. I went for a cloud based one to get started fast: www.thinkific.com

They have an excellent blog and Facebook group.

Thanks. I looked all over google and the articles were suggesting Udemy which isn't the kind of courses I'm referring too.

The one you linked is more what I'm looking for. Teachable is another similar one I found.

Yes. I built a business offering services in my area of expertise (since 2013), run that as a busines aside from my courses.

When I got tired of repeating myself on calls, I put all the common problems on one topic (how to be self-motivated for example) into videos.

Then when I have my services that I offer, the video course which delivers the same QUALITY and results as my services, i wrote a book on the front end and market the book through podcasts and brand myself around that subject area.

They see my brand -> book -> Supplemental videos linked from book (email opt in) -> course -> services -> practitioner training to replicate my business model with the $1,995 training program - which involves my personal time via skype to make sure they learn it right.

Hey there how is your progress going? I just stumbled on this thread. I have used Kajabi and Teachable. You can also start with Clickfunnels.

Whats your progress?

Hello,

I just discovered Podia for online courses and will give you my opinion once tested. It requires marketing thought.

2 years old, but I don't think I've ever seen this displayed so succinctly. Any way to squish in a step or two for presales and make a full blown 1 page 10 commandments MBA?

Folks, does anyone have experience with outsourcing voice recording for courses and related postproduction?

Working on
• Premium training program for HR developers and teams that is delivered partly online and partly onsite, working with clients/teams.
> Online courses will be a key element of the package, with as few onsite gigs as possible.
> Have decided to work with Wordpress/Learndash

Currently Trying
• Would like to work with a professional speaker because
> Audio can make a huge difference in overall quality perception of a video.
> I don't want service & process be too dependent on me as a person / voice etc.

Where I am stuck
• Realize outsourcing voice recording isn't trivial. It adds quite a few steps in the overall workflow.
> The Speaker is no professional in our domain.
> There will be many videos done, so I want to make sure the process if efficient.

How can I get premium audio as few extra steps as possible?
See what I mean:

Workflow Course Production all done by on person A
A
Text
A Build Slides
A Record Voice while presenting
A Export video…

Workflow when working with External Speaker
A
Text
A Build slides
Speaker Record Voice
+ A Organize Audio Files
+ A Record slide presentation matching voice recording
+ A Compile
A Export Video…

* Options I see so far > what am I missing?
1. I do all myself
2. Speaker also presents the slides while recording audio all as one presentation.
3. Send to speaker a pre-timed video, maybe with a quick and dirty voice recording.

* How can I make this whole production as efficient and repeatable as possible?

Thanks!
