Default A Business Idea: What Do Y'all Think?

I've been thinking and recently came up with a business idea. The idea is to create a website that teaches people how to build an online business. This website would be like "come up with an idea," "research the idea to make sure it's profitable," and so until the person has built the business.

The problem is I've never actually built a profitable online business, but I've read so much about it that I know how to physically do it. I've built about 3 websites (all failures), but I had to look all over the place to find information on how to do it, and I thought it would be useful to have all of the information available on 1 website.

Should I just put this idea on the backburner, until I actually build a profitable and successful online business, or do you think I could really make this work?

Not to be harsh but this is what 99.9% of all new internet marketers think and probably how whatever guru you're following made his money. "This sounds like it would work - I bet I could convince some other sucker to buy it even if I can't get it to work for me."

Not only is the competition in this space very tough you're swimming with sharks that are better funded and better connected than you are too. Not to mention the ethical dilemma that you'll eventually find yourself in when someone asks for "proof" that what you're trying to sell them works...

Yeah, I kinda figured as much. I was just trying to think of something that could help others, but also given time could lead to profit. Oh well, back to the drawing board! Thanks for being brutally honest or "harsh" if you will.

The competition is tough in the space and you would therefore need to truly stand out from the crowd.

All the gurus making big bucks now started a few years ago or even a year ago.

You can definitely do it but it is a lot about good JV relationships.

Sorry but unless you've done it and I think I can do what you've done then you are like the fat teacher lecturing at a diet class. Technically you might know how to do it but if it's so easy why haven't you?

Wait till you've got the street cred.
I hope my post or replies are helpful. Thanks in advance for Thanks and + Speed Reps!

Two things. One, don't give up on an idea just because 1 person said it's not a good idea. I think you should look into an alternative business plan just as everyone else is suggesting, but you shouldn't give up on an idea so easily. Have SOME fight in you. Two, because this market is so competitive, your marketing will need to be AMAZING!!! The top person in this field is almost certainly not the best, but the best at marketing that he's the best. Good luck!

I get what you're saying. And I really wasn't trying to become an Internet Marketer, so much as offering value to people. Truth be told, I don't want to become the next big huge "guru", in fact I like working in the background. Anyway, the idea came to me because at the time I had been working on an build an online business course, and while I think information is solid, a bunch of little things annoyed me about it. What I was going to do was totally revamp it. I was going to give the information in a much more bite-sized and organized manner with my own voice and antecedents, of course. Nonetheless, the idea is still in its infancy because I also wanted to be able to provide software (so far I was thinking a brainstorming tool) that would accompany the text along with examples for people to work through before they ever started building their own specific website.

I haven't completely dropped the idea so much as put it on the back burner. Also, I want to focus right now on learning how to program.

You know the old adage, to be successful you have to learn from your failures. So what that you failed before. Did you learn from it? What can you do the next time to make it more successful or was it dead from the start.

Successful people always learn from past mistakes. Nobody is perfect.

I think you should build a profitable and successful online business before you give advice to others.

There are already newbie hand-holding build your first online business websites.

One example is Chris Farrell Membership...... he has a lot of free videos about how to build websites. Plus you can join a membership and get access to more hand-holding information.

There are other websites that do this as well....

Bad idea for all of the reasons listed above. Keep trying to come up with something great, or find someone with a good idea and partner up with them. 10% of something great is better than 100% of something subpar.

OP Chris Farrels site is excellent for beginners and he has great credentials.

However, once you have got a profitable business set up and you are actually qualified to teach that information then there is still room in the market if you aim it at a new and exclusive market.

I do this and only do direct mail and posting flyers through the doors. I don't market the course online. It reaches a brand new audience and works very well as a result.

I agree with the other replies though and think that you shoud put this on the back burner for now.

    Good luck
