    Default Facing your fears

Two days ago I went on my first high ropes course experience. It was terrifying (that is really an understatement!). I did it, though. So, I feel quite proud of myself.

Having said that, I do not really know if I can recommend it... I love adventure type sports, but I actually enjoy them. Doing the parapente has been one of the most amazing and exhilarating experiences in my life.

The high ropes course was something that I had been wanting to do for about a year. Even when I got there I saw it and thought how I was going to just fly through it and have a blast. I encouraged those that went before me and kept thinking how much "better" I would be at it than most who were fearful.

When I got up there, I was more than terrified. If not for friendly encouragement I would not have finished. I seriously begged to not do one last part!

I also had serious problems finishing this one part when I was literally in the home stretch. It has given me serious food for thought. A questionnaire was given to us at the end with questions like what did you learn about yourself today? etc. It was interesting!

In any case, I have the achy body to remind me I did it!

Thanks for posting. I think for everyone there is something that they are terrified (or don't want to complete).

Your post is helping me to tackle my fears.

Hey Cactus did you get to stand on top of the pole and jump off to grab the ring? It takes guts to do those ropes courses.

It was not a ring, but a trapeze (triangle shape).

Yep, I did it too. You don't realize how much that pole moves around until you stand on top of it. I just about lost my nerve right there. Glad you made it.

I have not planned it yet, but I will try my way with bungy jumping in New Zeeland (the homeland of extreme sports as I have come to understand it). That will probably be the scariest thing I will ever do. Anyone done bungy jumping on this forum?

Congrats by the way. You only know you are alive until you test the boundaries. Testing the boundaries of one self is the ultimate way of living a good life.
