6 months report with Everyday Luxury!

Hi guys!

Some of you may remember me and my small project to make a Facebook page called Everyday Luxury! My goal was to reach 10 000 people by the end of the year and I will make it! I have presently about 6 000 followers all around the world and i'm very happy that people like what I do! :icon_super:

But I need your help on SEO!!!!

I created a blog to make some little money with my facebook page...

For the few of you that never heard of it, the Facebook page is called "Everyday Luxury" where I upload daily pictures of all the toys and mansions that we all dream of. Since I've always done it for "free", I tried to make a blog so I can make some money with Google Adsense. With all the followers I have all around the world, I try to bring them to visit my blog where I put more pics!

My daily stats are pathetic... so I need your advice to help me convert more and optimize my SEO.

The blog I want you to take a look is:

www.everyday-luxury.blogspot.com

And my Facebook page is this one:

www.facebook.com/everydayluxurypage

What's wrong with it? 6 000 followers and only 20 visitors per day on the blog...

I used Blogger to make my blog so, is there anything I can do to improve my SEO? I've already pu some Meta Tags in the HTML code but that's the only thing i've done so far...

Some of the photos you have found were AMAZING. But... the best part? They're all REAL and OBTAINABLE. You have a tendency to pick the exact type of places we love and are working towards. Amazing idea. No idea how to help you get the blog going, but the Facebook component is GREAT and I highly recommend it to anyone that reads this thread.

"Liked" your page.

Have you thought much about getting off of blogspot? Doesn't give off the correct image IMO. You're talking about luxury yet you use the cheapest solution possible to setup a blog. Wordpress is stupid easy and free once you get hosting in place. I'd make the switch...today!

How long per day do you take finding the images? What made you choose to do this?

I'm doing something similar. 5 weeks ago I started a blog where I curate photos in a certain niche. I have huge interest in this niche and this blog was just a fun way to "store" all the photos that inspired me. So, I did this for fun not because it was a fastlane opportunity. I do plan to monetize the blog soon by listing it on buysellads.com. Now, I use self-hosted wordpress with a nice blog theme purchased from themeforest for I think $25. I also installed the "Wordpress SEO" plugin. I also suggest getting off blogspot if you want to have more control over your on-page seo efforts.

Considering my blog is only 5 weeks old and is in a specialty niche, I am happy with my average unique daily visits of 55. I know that's not very impressive but I am quickly building a following and my average daily return visitors is 40. The majority of my visitors are coming from twitter. I set up a twitter account for my blog, identified the major influencers in this niche and follow them. In turn about 40% of them are following back. I now have over 1,050 followers.

I am already ranking on page one for a couple long tail keywords but I know it will probably be a few months before I see any real SEO benefit. I noticed a lot of your posts just have photos. Be sure to put some text content in there to help with your SEO. Also, are you using ALT descriptions for those photos? That could help as well.

I would also think that setting up a Pinterest account could help drive traffic to your site. I recently watch a great video interview about how to use Pinterest in the most effective way. Here's the cheat sheet to that interview How to get traffic and sales through Pinterest | Business Tips - you won't be able to watch the interview without a paid subscription but the cheat sheet is free and may help guide you if you decide to use Pinterest.

Liked your page.
Maybe some thought with more content, since you are all about luxury items. Maybe you should post some stuff from Jameslist. If you haven't been on it, it is basically the Craigslist for ballers. I think it would fit what you do well.

Also, maybe add watches/jewelry. Take a look at some of the stuff Luxury 4 Play posts. They have to same audience as you.

I second getting off of blog spot. Get a good domain, have a Wordpress site themed (custom theme, preferably), and run it that way.

I take about 15 minutes per day to find the pics I like, I also look at luxury magazines to spot the name of the photographer!

The problem is that I don't want to invest to much money on a blog since everybody ever told me it was a waste of my money and my time... I'm testing the waters to see if I can get a little bit of money.

What is the big difference between blogger and Wordpress? is the difference big enough to make the switch? Will it help me to make more profit?

So, by now, the best way to optimize my blog would be to:

1) switch from Blogger to Wordpress
2) Check ou Pinterest
3) Put my facebook likes on my Blog
4) Put more text on my posts

Should I stick with it?

Is $5.95 a month too much to spend on something that you put time and effort towards? It's just an overall better platform to operate from and gives you more control. I'm sure you can google key differences if you like. I would at the very least purchase a domain name and mask your url.

I could probably afford it... You are probably right... With the 4$ a month I earn from adsense, it would only cost me 2$ and if it can help me to drive more traffic, I'm winner...

Just read some articles to make sure I really wanted to make the switch from Blogger to Wordpress and I found some really interesting arguments.

Good move on the name change. Looks a lot better than seeing blogspot in there

I'd also look into finding a template or changing a setting so you have "fluid width" I did a quick search and it seems to be possible on blogspot. There's a lot of unused space on the sides of my monitor and I think a blog that is picture orientated should take advantage of this instead of cramming it all in the center. I would also increase the size of your images. Make the pictures the focus.

I'm testing other templates for 3 days now but I don't find the "perfect one"... There is always a thing that I dislike so I never make the real switch with it. When I found a template that I liked, I wasn't able to change the images already in the html code so I have some more work to do to understand what I do. I'll take the time to do it this afternoon!

one question: What do you mean by fluid width?

Looking much better. Fluid Width will expand or contract with the screens size.

The blog idea is truly a great one, and the new theme looks great. Just a quick question, if you don't mind : how do you plan to monetize it ? Also, do you intend to write content, or just share great pics of dream places/toys ?

Hi!
I do some very little money with adsense but it's not my main goal... My goal is to drive the more traffic I can and after, if I succeed, I'll think about that point more deeply.

I know google doesn't like pages without text but I'll try to make one with the more images I can! People don't want to read, they want to dream!

I'll keep you guys posted... I've put an affiliate link and I know some of you dislike this kind of marketing but I really respect the guy who wrote this book and I loved it... so I don't consider this as a spam :eusa_naughty:
