    Default Question about advertising online

If I were to start an advertising site, how would I get companies to want to advertise. I was thinking offering them a deal like 3-6 months listing for free, than once traffic picks up start charging. Or do I charge from the start?

Do you mean a business listing directory?

I'd say get traffic first, then sell the listings.

Getting traffic can be easy (but costly) with a PPC campaign.

are you asking for how to do traffic arbitrage? buying traffic at the CPM level? selling at the CPC level? or are you looking to get people to a site (say a tropical house site) and then list houses type of site?

you get the traffic, there are alot of networks you can sell your traffic to. you can work out alot of deals, IF you have the traffic, getting people to pay you to list on a site with no traffic is not the best plan.

often I will see people list there, then no traffic happens, and you cant get them to REup, and you wasted their time and yours.

lay out your question a bit better and you might get a better answer.

you question was week, its akin to the "how do I make money " type of questions. to general for any use.

For example kayak.com . Do they charge Expedia, Travelovity, Delta etc. a fee to list their services? And if they do, did they charge from the start or when traffic came through?

I am not exactly sure what format you want to do your business in. What kind of advertising is it, really? Do you have steady traffic to work with or will you be starting right from the very beginning.
