Default Outsourcing = Valuing Your Time

There's been a few threads posted already about outsourcing but I wanted to share one of the things I've been outsourcing for quite a while now - article writing.

I don't know about you, but the one thing I hate more than anything else is trying to sit down at the computer and grind out articles. Especially articles that I'm only using for backlinks. Ugh.

So, here's what I do - go to Amazon Turks (or Odesk or other sites like this) and create a project for article writing or sentence re-writing or whatever you need, just be specific about what you want. You set the amount you want to pay, the workers do the project, you approve or reject the work depending on whether they followed your guidelines in the project description or not.

If you're on the fence about whether or not to outsource, just ask yourself this one question - What do I value my time worth?

How about Sixty Cents An Hour to re-write sentences?

^For some reason it won't let me upload a bigger pic, but the red oval highlights the "Effective Hourly Rate: $0.600" or sixty cents an hour.

Or Seventy Three Cents An Hour to write a unique 500+ word article?

Is that a typical cost, Kwerner? I'm just outsourcing them for $3 flat / 500words, at the moment.

I set a the amount at a flat rate of $1 per article. MTurk automatically calculates the effective hourly rate.

I find an article and just have them re-write it in their own words it so it's unique and passes CopyScape.

Oh, and for sentence re-writes, I pay $0.10 each.

Not too elaborate; I try to keep it concise but let them know I'm strict. Basically I tell them:

    * The article must be rewritten in your *own* words
    * 500 words minimum
    * Articles must pass CopyScape. If it doesn't pass, your work will not be approved.
    * Below is the article to rewrite:

    (copy / paste article here)

    And that's about it really.

I did this on Odesk and I think I paid $1 for each 500 word rewrite. They wasn't of the best quality, but I guess you get what you pay for. They were unique though.

Odesk seems to be way more expensive than fiver atleast from what I see. I rather have a flat rate than hour rate.

Was this for your list of First Tier web 2.0's and blogs?

I'm not exactly sure how Odesk works as far as accepting and rejecting work, but on MTurks it's real easy. I don't mind re-writing a sentence or two now and then but if their grammar sucks or if they have 15% or more duplicate in CopyScape, I just reject their work and resubmit the job.
